7 days post op

Had my first visit to the doctor today. I have lost 21 lbs in 3 weeks! The nurse removed the drain, which was really bothering me. It was hurting a lot! I talked to a few people in the waiting room, they said it should get better in a day or two now that the drain is gone. I'm very weak. Went to the grocery store after the doctor's visit and seriously felt like I was going to pass out when I was bagging. My 19 yr old son, Alex, is such a doll. He got all the groceries out & put them away for me. I'm so blessed. The first thing I did was have a little protein in some skim milk and WOW what a difference. I felt better, less weak in about an hour. My body was screaming for nutrients. Since then, I have had about 2 ozs of chicken & rice soup. Whew, I'm stuffed. ha ha. I really am comfortable, though.
Night Before Surgery
Jan 15, 2007
Here it is the night before surgery and I am not even nervous. Is that normal? Well, I've never been known for being normal (he he). Went to McDonald's today just to have a humongous fountain diet coke. It was sooo good. Today was my last day of work for a couple of weeks. All my close co-workers, more RNs, know I'm having surgery tomorrow and have been full of encouragement & support. I'm off to a good night of sleep and dreams about sexy lingerie & smaller clothes!

The whole process of getting insurance approval seemed like it took forever! Now I'm only 2 days away from surgery. I'm so excited since I feel this is going to be the beginning of a much healthier life for me. Since, I've had to be on a liquid diet for the past 2 weeks I have not had to take my diabetic meds. That felt great! I think about how great it will be if I never take them and the blood pressure meds again. My husband and 2 kids are so supportive. Received messages from several members. That was sooo nice!
I weighed in at 292 two weeks ago. I'm 5'2". If my scale is close to the doctor's, then I have lost 17 lbs just on the liquid diet. I have to admit, I did cheat tonight. I was dying for Mexican food and ate out tonight. But that is the only time I've had solid food and it will be the last until I'm allowed after surgery. I hope I won't be struck by lightening because of it!
