Rhonda H.
I've had a weight problem all of my life. I was born a preemie at 3lbs and I remember starting to looking fat in 4th grade. But I wasn't that big because by high school the largest I got was size 14. My real problems began when I joined the USAF and had to lose 35lbs. I lost the weight with Dexatrim and starvation. By the time I arrived at my first duty station, I weighed in at 142lbs and I remember being called into my commander's office because I was a pound overweight. I was reprimanded and place on the weight program where I stayed for 11 years. As I got older my weight allowance grew to about a Max of 155. It was so hard keeping that weight off because my body liked being 155-160lbs. By the time I separated in 1994, I weighed in at 183lb with a BMI of 32%. I remember when I separated how I felt such freedom to eat without anyone standing over me with a reprimand. I’m now a shame to say that I gained an immediate 60lbs the first year I was out. I was enjoying myself but granted I was conscience of what I was doing and I did attempt several diet programs with only little success. Nevertheless, it seems dare near impossible to drop any weight now. I've researching this surgery for nearly 9 years now and I submitted paperwork to have it done back in 2003 but twice Cigna disapproved it. I was disappointed but God had other plans for me.
