I'm 52 years old and have struggled with my weight for over 30 years. I've yo-yo'd back and forth, while on several different diets, including adkins, scarsdale, jenny craig, alli, and now weight watchers. My highest weight was approx. 255, but i've kept it around 235 for the past 5 years. I have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren and they are great and very supportive. Oh yeah, and I have the best husband in the world! My health has gotten worse over the past 3 years, having been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea just to name a few issues. I so want to live to a ripe old age just as my grandparents did, but without all the health issues. I may the decision on having the lapband surgery after 3 years of researching the pros and cons of the procedure. The pros definitely out weighs the cons. My cardiologist believes that since I am in the beginning stages of chf that it can be reversed and that I can eventually get rid of the cpap and oxygen at night, maybe even stop taking my blood pressure medicine. I'm looking forward to being able to go to amusement parks and the zoo with the grandkids, which I find really hard to do at this time because I have to carry the oxygen with me. I have met with Dr. Smith and my next appointment is set for July 10, to go over the complication risk and insurance, my husband and oldest daughter is going with me as my support team. Hopefully, next time you hear from me it will be with a surgery date!
