I was really never overweight until I got married for the first time (at age 19).  Before that time, I could eat anything that I wanted and managed to stay trim.  I spent many years in beauty pageants and modeling and so the pressure was there to keep my weight under control.

I attribute my battles with depression and the medication used to treat it as the start of my weight issues.  Now, I am not on any meds (I just decided to fix the issues making me miserable - it was a long and winding road, however, to determine what those issues were).

My weight spiraled even more out of control during the pregnancy of my one and only daughter.  Since the onset of my weight gain, I spent 10 years categorized as obese.  During that time, I had uncontrollable HBP, diabetes, and severe sleep apnea.  I really had no choice; I needed to do something pretty drastic to get off the weight and had failed for years trying to do so.

At the age of 29, I decided to do something about it and opted for gastric bypass.  I have made a remarkable transformation and have concluded that this is absolutely the best thing that I have ever done for myself.

I am now 35 years old (5 years post op), and I have MORE than I could have ever dreamed of having.  Life is GOOD.
