Hi Rachael! Congrats on having your surgery! Let the weight loss begin!! I bet you feel relieved now. It's over and now you are on the other side and can join the ranks of the losers. Welcome, my friend!!! Happy RE-Birthday to you! From this day forward you life will change forever. Just try to take it easy and remember to sip, walk, deep breathe and cough. Take those pain pills and splint the tummy! These first few days are rough, but I assure you they get better with each passing day. Some days those emotions will resurface and try to get the best of you, but just remember what you’ve been through to get this far! I’m sure you’ll be proud of what you’ve accomplished!! You know you can always come here and get a dose of confidence and good will! We will still be here to support you and cheer you on as the pounds come off! I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you today and that you are in my thoughts and prayers for an uncomplicated, swift recovery. You are an official loser!! Wishing you much success in your weight-loss journey. Today you burst out of that cocoon and become a beautiful butterfly! Tomorrow you’ll spread those wings and embark on a wonderful journey! Soft hugs to you today. God bless, DI from NJ - Lap RNY, 12/09/03 ~In Loving Memory of Momma Angel~

Rachael went in at around 7:30 (her scheduled time)... we had not heard from her family so we called the hospital around noon to find that they were just then taking her to the ICU. She had not been out of surgery/recovery for very long. You will have to remember that she had to have an OPEN procedure so it took alot longer than normal. Hospital staff said that she came through the procedure very well and that she was recovering nicely. She will be in ICU for at least tonight with the possibility of moving to a regular room tomorrow. Her mom called us this afternoon (late) to say that she is mostly sleeping but she is able to recognize family between snoozing and the medication. They are keeping her fairly well medicated so she will be free from pain. We are going to call up later tonight to check on her status and will post more then. Elizabeth~
