Back on Track

Jan 04, 2011

Well, I'm back on obesityhelp.com and if the truth be told I never should have left.  After surgery, I made it all the way down to 260 but then I started getting lazy and taking my tool for granted.  I managed to gain 75 pounds back and have been half-heartedly working on losing again and did lose 35 pounds.  But I have officially decided I need to get my butt in gear and quit taking my tool for granted.  I have worked too hard to make myself healthy to let myself go again. God has given me a second chance by allowing me to have this surgery and I'm going to take every advantage of it that I can.  I am making my goals simple - get my protein in, accurately log my food intake, excercise and lose 20 pounds.  I need to lose 40 to get back down to my lowest weight but I decided to go with smaller increments to make them a little more achievable so I don't get discouraged.  I know that losing the weight is going to be harder now that I am almost 5 years out but I will do this.  I have a wonderful man in my life and a very handsome 13 year old and they rely on my being here.  I can and will do this!!!!!!!!

11 Months Post-Op

Mar 06, 2007

It's hard to believe that I am 11 months post-op.  So much has changed in my life.  I went to the doctor yesterday and I am now completely off of all my high blood pressure meds.  At one point I was taking 3 a day.  It is soooo nice.  Today was my weigh/measure day.  I am now down 196 pounds.  Four more pounds and I will have lost 200 pounds!!  I have lost a total of 110.75 inches!!!!!! My doctor said there are not enough words to express how proud he is of me.  That really makes me feel good.  I even caught myself crossing my legs the other day. LOL  I haven't been able to do that in forever. My BMI is all the way down to 43.8. Not bad considering that I started at 76.4!!!

It's been awhile since I updated so I thought I better get on it.  Life has been so fantastic.  I am moving around so much better and am even considering going back to work.  I am well down in the 200's and that is something I never thought I would see again.  I am even sharing clothes with my mom which really opens up my wardrobe. I am discovering things that I haven't noticed in forever - I can feel my ribs and collarbone, I can cross my legs, I am even beginning to enjoy shopping again and have even found myself "window shopping" just to waste time.  My son is looking forward to camping this spring with Mom.  My hair thinned out quite a bit but is filling back in now and is thicker than ever.  Sometimes I am afraid this is all a dream and I am going to wake up.  I never thought life would be this good again.  I am almost down to the weight I was before I got married and at that weight I could do anything I wanted to do.  I can't wait to ride a rollercoaster again which I plan on doing this summer when Cody and I get season passes for Six Flags. As for my weight loss totals - right now I stand at 184 pounds lost and 71.25 inches lost.

Well my surgery is a go and I am more excited than words can say. Unfortunately, due to a scheduling error I have been pushed back to April 4th. But that's ok. It just means another week of this clear liquid diet.

Things are going very well here. The surgery went great and I thank you all for the wonderful support I receive from this site. On Monday I went and the doctor took out my drain and staples and moved me up to full liquids. I have lost 11 pounds since surgery. I had a few complications during surgery but nothing the surgeon couldn't deal with and am healing just fine.

Well, today is m 41st birthday and I feel better than I have in a long time. I went for my 3 month check up yesterday. Since surgery I have lost 67 pounds. But since I started this whole process back in November, I have lost a total of 103 pounds. I am walking better, wearing clothes I haven't worn in a long time (and they are actually kinda big), and have been able to get off of some of my high blood pressure meds.
