I've been morbidly obese most of my life, except birth and the year I was eighteen. I've done them all, Weight Watchers, Nutri System, Slim-Fast, even an obesity clinic. They all work until you stop. I guess I finally gave up and figured I'd always be fat. At 42, a single mom of a 7 year old, I couldn't do the things I wanted to with my son. I couldn't fit on a bicycle to ride with him. I tired out too easily walking at fairs, was too embarassed to go swimming, the list went on.  I don't know exactly when it finally sank in that if I didn't do something soon, I wouln't live to see my 45th birthday. I decided I wanted to stay alive for my son, and the quality of life I was living stunk. So I finally decided that the benefits outweighed the risks of surgery, and on October 27th 2006, I had my Roux en Y gastric bypass.  I know the road is long, but I've made a list of things to look forward to doing, and I know I'm going to make it.
