Hi ya'll. Well, after being hospitalized for the 3rd time, seems as tho things are finally looking up for me! I passed my leak test this last week!!! Never new a popsicle could taste so good. I am still hooked up to my PICC line for now, hopefully will be getting off of it on Tuesday. I am not losing any weight while on the nutritional stuff and I am so ready to begin dropping. I have already went out and bought some smaller clothes and cant wait to wear them! Thanks to all of you that sent thoughts and prayers my way, they really helped! And I will tell you pre-ops, what I have been thru sounds harsh, but was not so bad...really! Right now I can say I would do it again. Good luck to those of you facing surgery this week, please keep your spirits high and have a positive attitude. lapRNY 2-11-03----RLW

well, I am home again after another hospital stay. The groshong they inserted to feed me thru developed a bacteria and traveled to my bloodstream. I was in for 6 days. They did another leak test and the hole is still not cleared up yet, almost! they will check again in 2 more weeks. they now placed a PICC line in my arm to feed me and give me antibiotics to clear up the bacterial infection. Next week will be one month since my surgery...a long time with nothing by mouth! But it hasnt been so bad really. The last 2 days have been good, so hopefully things are beginning to look up for me. Keep me in your prayers. Good luck to those about to have surgery, keep your spirits high!!

Rory, it's good you're home. I know you're probably thinking "why in the world did I do this to myself"...but once you pass the leak test and are able to start with the steps of healing, you'll feel much better. I'll say an extra prayer for you tonight....just hang in there! ~J

I am home! WOW what a tuff week and a half! I did a second leak test on Monday and did not pass. I went in for a 3rd surgery where they incerted a grotion (sp?) to attach an IV to feed me by until I can pass the leak test. I go for my next one a week from this upcoming Monday. In the meantime, nothing by mouth. And they said I would maintain my weight while on this. There is no pain, thank goodness. My energy level is almost nothing. Food smells horrible! I have no desire for anything but a glass of ice cold water! Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes! All of you are an inspiration!
