Had my surgery! 5-15-09

Jun 01, 2009

Well  I am glad all my cardio drama is over.  It ended up being a FALSE positive on my heart testing.

My surgery went smooth only 3 hours(per Dr Rabkin). I stayed at St Mary's Hospital in SF  CA. only  3 days. It  was painful the first day due to the morphine did NOTHING  for me! I asked for another kind that  someone on OH said work better and  that  is what did the trick,,, after that it was smooth sailing.=pain wise=.  I pretty much did not want visitors  just wanted to do my thing and recover but my  Best friend  JULIA did come  by and the flowers  she brought  to me are still blooming!

I knew the  fluid intake was going to be rough as with protein but I  just need to take it one  day  at a time and it will get better. I  try to  eat   every 3 to 4 hours  sometimes yogurt,  jello, oatmeal.  I HATE sweet anything these days. So I  have been drinking Hot decaf tea or hot decaf coffee for my fluids. I stopped my pain meds after  1 week.
I have experimented with deli meats(sliced  thin)   shrimp/avocado scamble eggs/boiled eggs and slice of bacon  cashews nuts.
If i feel like  i am swallowing to fast i need to stand up or pat my chest to help it go down.  My posture has changed while eating. I  do not  lean and slouch towards the table at all.  I now sit straight up with my back against the chair. It makes the feeling  of my food  going down better.  I did vomit 2 times for eating too much at once.  I need to  train my self to eat slow!
I only drink  with  my meal if  i feel food is stuck and not moving  down the pipe.

My BM have been  solid now that I am eating food and not just  liquids.  I was concerned on how many BM  iwas having the first week out urggg. it was  extreme.

I  will start my vitamins  after my 3rd week (6-5-09)  Dana Benner  gave me my list  to start. I took all my vitamins I had ordered from VitaLady and some from  costco (good idea  she said) due  may have some that are not needed at this point.

I do tire easily  after taking  walks  of more than 15 minuets. I am so happy that I did have my WLS of my choice not the one that are only provided at Kaiser!
