It's been way over due for posting my updates. I feel so much better with 70 lbs gone.I DODGED/AVOIDED diabetes and so many comorbidities that are prone to my family.
I take less of my Nsaids if at all any for my knee and lower back.
Clothes pre-op: size18 pants Tops 1x-3x.. shoes size 7 and now i currently use size 6 pants ..Tops sm/med & shoe size 6
What a change in styles that are available and cost is less( I bargain hunt).
I eat most foods and kinda of stick to what sits well in my tummy. I do venture and try "new" foods but most times my tatste buds have changed but the rule is protein first. My 6 month labs were good ..my D was tanked pre-op.. a crappy level 8 and now it is at 50!!! yes it could be higher but at least it did go up. It was very important to do labs pre-op to check levels that were tanked or low and start vitamins pre surgery.
I attend 2 support meetings a month and really look foward to the Paclap meetings! We really open up on our issues and our lives post op. With the recent plastic surgery patients that attend ..I have seen GREAT results .. my turn will be in 2012 ( with Gods will) I hope to save enough $$ or heck maybe get a darn loan if need be!
Overall I just feel so happy and blessed that the DS journey has been easy to follow . My OH Friends are so very caring and helpful . I don't know what heck I would do without Vitalady(Michelle) LARRA and all her tips and advice and so many more people it would take 5 pages to list them all.
I just am so grateful to so many here on OH and to "surgery wars" not for me but for the pre-ops who NEVER heard of all their WLS options... also Eternally grateful to the DMHC that made Kaiser send me to IMO the best DS surgeon Dr John Rabkin. He and his staff are amazing and made feel very comfortable through out the whole process from begining to present day.
My husband and children are very supportive of my choice for WLS and now see the results of this new life that we share together. We do more together as a family since I now participate instead of staying home alone in my misery with aches and pains..
I hope to post that I am at goal by my Birthday in February 2010 so about 20lbs to go we'll see!
Just listen to your body and if something doesn't feel right call your PCP/surgeon or get your self to ER ASAP.
