Got My Card!

Jan 03, 2009

Yeah!  After playing around on the message board yesterday, I figured out how to get my century card.  My husband thought I was silly for really wanting this card, but it symbolizes so much to me that I really wanted it!

GOAL...150 Pounds

Dec 14, 2008

Hip...hip...hooray!!!

I am so excited!  I weighed in this morning and I have reached my goal in 4 days shy of 6 months.  This has been an amazing journey and I am so thankful for the success God has allowed me to experience.  I never imagined things would turn out this way.

When I started this I was hoping to be able to wear a size 12 and weigh 150 pounds.  I now weigh 150 pounds and I am still losing.  I didn't have any dress pants that fit anymore, so I went shopping for some yesterday.  To my awe, I purchased two size 6 pairs of dress pants.  I don't think my feet are touching the ground, yet.

I hope all of you are seeing your dreams come true as well.  I wish you all a very merry Christmas and an awesome 2009!

I am so THANKFUL!

Nov 25, 2008

I am so thankful for all of you.  I joined this group when I first started the WLS process.  I read profile after profile, asked questions, chatted with lots of awesome people.  I gained my strength and courage from all of you to take the leap and go through with my RNY.  This leap has improved my life dramatically and according to my general doctor and cardiologist, saved it.  Thank you all so much!

I never imagined I would see this kind of progress.  When you have tried to lose and failed so many times, you get to where you expect to fail.  So, when you are successful, it is so amazing.  When I set my goal of 150, I honestly thought it was high hopes.  Now I am 6 pounds away and still losing.  I started off shooting to wear a 12 and now I have some 8's that are getting baggy.  More importantly though, for the first time in a long time, I feel great!  My health is thriving and my self-esteem is getting so much better.

To anybody getting ready to have surgery or who are thinking about it still; it is an incredible journey.  The good far out weighs the bad and I would do it again in a heartbeat.  It has truly changed my life.

God bless you all and have a great Thanksgiving!

Hey, Skinny!

Nov 09, 2008

Yesterday I went to my cousin's birthday party.  I saw some people I hadn't seen in quite a while.  I was referred to as "Hey, Skinny."  How cool is that!!!  The big girl of the group is now being called skinny.  Not to mention, one of my friends totally blew me off when she got there, which is not at all like her.  She asked my aunt who I was and was blown away to discover it was me.  She came and gave me a big hug afterward and explained that she didn't recognize me.  Needless to say, I had a great evening!

I hope everyone is doing great and feeling great.  Happy Fall, everyone!

4 Month Anniversay

Oct 18, 2008

Today is my 4 month anniversary.  My life has changed so much in that 4 months that it almost seems like a dream.  I figured I would check and record my measurements today.  I meant to do it every month, but I just didn't manage to get it done.  Anyway, I've been in a stall this week bouncing between 170.5 and 172.  Right now I am sitting at 171, which is still great and I'm not complaining especially after looking at the changes in my measurements.  Here are my transformations  :

Breast: started at 46--now 39=loss of 7 inches
Waist: started at 50--now 36=loss of 14 inches
Booty: started at 50--now 41=loss of 9 inches
Thighs (both legs together): started at 47--now 40=loss of 7 inches
(1 thigh is 25 inches)
Weight: started at 247.5--now 171=76.5 pounds

GRAND TOTAL: 76.5 POUNDS AND 37 INCHES IN 4 REGIONS

Size 10 Jeans!

Oct 13, 2008

The other day my family and I went walking through the mall and my husband suggested that I actually buy some pants that fit properly.  I have been wearing hand-me downs and whatever I can get my hands on since my weight has changed so much so quickly.  Anyway, I had no idea what I actually wear now so I grabbed a size 12 and a size 14.  I put on the 12 hoping that it would fit, but expecting to have to put on the 14.  The 12 fit and had room to spare.  I was so excited that I ran out and grabbed a 10.  It fit!  I was so excited.

I still "can't" see a huge change in my appearance even though it has clearly changed drastically.  People constantly tell me how great I look, but when I look in the mirror I still don't see it.  Is that happening with any of you?

NO MORE MEDS!!!

Sep 14, 2008

I am now off of every prescription!!!  After seeing Dr. Boone earlier this month, he suggested that my heart pills should be reevaluated and possible reduced or eliminated all together.  So, I gave it a try and I feel great!

I never imagined I would see this kind of success.  At the beginning of the process, I was told to expect about 70 pounds loss in about 6-8 months.  I have lost 65 pounds in just under 3 months, but more importantly, NO more prescriptions!

Exercising Now

Aug 31, 2008

Week before last week, I made it to the gym 4 days.  I was able to walk 2 miles on a treadmill each of those days.  I even attempted a tummy class, but that didn't go so well since I am terribly uncoordinated.  This past week was crazy busy though, not to mention I've caught my annual back to school cold.  I have walked some though.  My husband let me adopt a 9 month old yellow lab for my birthday, so I've taken her for walks 2 out of the 3 days I've had her.  And, the one day I didn't take her for a walk was because I went to the lake and swam all day so I was beat when I finally got home that night.  I'm also helping coach my son's soccer team so we have practices twice a week.  I'm definitely staying very active these days.
Speaking of my birthday though, we are having a BBQ to celebrate my birthday at the end of this week.  It's a bit depressing to know I can't even have birthday cake.  But, on the flip side of that, I've lost way more weight than I expected to at this rate so I really can't complain.  Watching the scale drop, hearing people's comments, and having to bag up clothes because they're too BIG is way better than a piece of cake any day!

Yeah...I've reached the 100's!

Aug 17, 2008

My weekly weigh-in this morning revealed that I have reached the 100's!  I am now 198 and I am so excited!  I haven't seen the 100's since before I got pregnant with my son who will turn 5 in October.
I made it through the first week of school last week, so I have decided to start my gym routine tomorrow.  So, my sister-in-law (RNY patient, too) and I will begin going to the gym Monday through Thursday this week.  God help me!!!
Anyway, my 2 month anniversary is tomorrow.  I am so happy to say that I feel great and I have lost 49.5 pounds to date.  I haven't had any complications and things seem to really be working wonderfully.
Hope everyone is doing and feeling great!

Weekly Weigh In and Some Measurements, TOO

Aug 10, 2008

I have now lost 44.5 pounds and I feel great.  I'm dying to move from the 2's to the 1's, since I haven't been 100 and something in over 5 years.  The scale and my body though seem to enjoy hovering right above 200 though.  That's ok though...I know I'll get there soon enough.  I feel great and that's what is important.

I was cramming myself into 18's, when I should have been wearing 20's, but refused to.  Now, I comfortably wear size 16's and some of them are getting baggy now, too.  I love being able to take out clothes that I had "outgrown" and be able to wear them again.

Since I could notice the changes, I went ahead and took my measurements.  I was quite surprised and pleased.
Weight was 247.5, now = 203...down 44.5 pounds
Breasts were 46, now 42...down 4 inches
Tummy was 50, now 38...down 12 inches
Booty was 50, now 45...down 5 inches
Thighs were 47, now 44...down 3 inches
Grand Total = down 44.5 pounds and 24 inches in 4 zones

This has been such an awesome journey.  Since I'm a teacher, I haven't seen a lot of my coworkers since before the surgery.  It feels so good to hear their reactions when they see me now.  I am so glad I decided to do this.

I also went for a check up with my primary care doctor on Friday and she was exstatic over my progress.  She agreed that this surgery was a life saver for me.  For the first time in a long time, she doesn't want to see me for 6 months.  YES!
