My story is this: I grew up in a home where my mother was always dieting, therefore there were no sweets in our home. So when I had the opportunity to have a cookie I just didn't eat one I ate the whole bag. I was never obese as a child or teenager. I had my first child at 19 and gained only 25lbs. I was in better shape after the delivery than I was before but I would eat when I got up with him at night and gained all the baby weight back. Second and third pregnancy were the same. Finally after delivering my third child at Holloween of course I ate all the candy from the kids treat bags. I went from 140 after the first child to 280 after the third child 10 years later.
I bought a bakery at 22 after working there for 7 years and worked many hours. Instead of eating regular meals I ate a cookie here and there and Fast food almost every day. A life of convenience.
I had worked with others that had the bypass surgery and decided that I could starve myself without the surgery. It was all a mind set. Well that never happened. I some how managed to lose 30lbs smoking and quitting then starting to smoke again. My only smoking perk!!!!!!
So here it is a year later at 37. I had one child graduating from high school and headed to college. My daughter a Junior in highschool was having a baby and my son who was 7 had a couch potato for a mother.
So I started researching surgery on line. I knew that I would not be one to be on supplements daily for the rest of my life. So I found the gastric sleeve. I started this process in July and had a deadline to receive the Surgery. As a business owner and a school bus driver I had to have the surgery no later than August so I could go back to work immediately. The staff worked hard to acheive this and I had a date of August 21, 2007. I had the surgery with a few complications and here I am 4 months later 60 lbs thinner and still working towards my goal of not letting food control my life.
