"Dr. Madura was just superb as surgeon and as a person. He answered all my questions and I never felt rushed. He clearly explained the risks and what to expect after surgery. I had a very clear handout of what my diet would be in the following months. ( they give you lots of handouts!!!) His nurse Judy Tiede is superb as well. I had my surgery Aug 25th 2010 and after 3 follow up visits I will now continue to see him once a year.
Mayo Clinic really wants their bariatric patients to succeed and so they have these classes called the L.E.A.R.N program. At the clinic they work as a team so there is a psychiatrist, who did an evaluation to see if I am emotionally stable, whether I have unrealistic expectations, a general physician, a bariatric nurse ,who runs the learn program, and also a nutritionist.
I can't say enough about Mayo Clinic-Arizona. I honestly felt I was in the medical god realm. Everyone treated me with kindness and consideration. I only wish I had decided to do this years ago.
