Ps Consult

Nov 13, 2009

I had a consultation with the 3rd Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kenneth Bermudez in San Francisco.   I loved what he had to say! Of course, since he said what I wanted to hear, I’m choosing him! He passes all my doctor requirements AND takes my insurance, besides the fact that he is super sweet and well informed of the difference between DS and other bariatric surgeries. (I loved that I didn’t have to school him on the DS!)   Anyway, when he first reviewed my paperwork, he said he’d like me to lose 20 more pounds over the next 3 months. I’ve been 187 since July, and no matter what I’ve tried, it won’t budge. Humph, stalls!…… Anyway, I was okay with that, as I wanted his expert opinion anyway on how I am progressing and how much more he thinks I need to lose and of course, if my panni is ready to be removed. He explained the different types of surgeries, asked what I don’t like about each body part I have issues with and discussed my general health. Then he did an exam.   The exam consisted of lifting, measuring, pointing, poking and pulling – all in front of a huge mirror. Yuck! but, understandably necessary part of the process.   After the exam, he told me I surprised him in many ways. He said I don’t have very much subcutaneous fat and that I am READY!!! He’d like me to try for 10 more pounds, but if I can’t not a big deal. My goal is still 20, so that 10 should be a breeze – mentally anyway. So, my panni is going away! I’m having an anchor abdominalplasty and medial thigh lift. He said the other surprise is my thighs, they are actually really good and I only have a handful of excess skin in the upper inner area, so a medial lift should do it! The best part is my insurance should approve both panni & thighs! My surgery is scheduled for 12-28-09! The best Christmas present EVER and a wonderful way to start 2010. I am so excited!
