Belated Post

Aug 25, 2009

Good grief. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile.

I'm at 90 something pounds lost, a little over a year out. I'm thrilled with my weight loss, and I'm working on the last 30-40 pounds.

I'm so much more active now - I'm swimming, kayaking, walking, jogging... Life is Good.

Almost halfway!

Dec 01, 2008

Well, I've lost 61.5 lbs now... and just a little further I'll be at 50% EWL (excess weight lost)!.

I've not had any problems to speak of; I'm still learning what gives me gas, loose bowels, etc. I've not had any problems with most food. Interestingly enough, sugar makes me sleepy, and if I eat sugar first thing in the morning, I'll get a terrible headache in the afternoon. Go figure... SO... I just don't eat sugar in the morning.

I feel better, I look better ( I even had a friend tell me she couldn't find me in choir at church, I'd lost so much weight!).

I'm thrilled I'm losing well, because as a revision, it was possible that I'd lose slowly.

Life is good.

Moving' Right Along - 55 lbs!

Oct 31, 2008

I wish I was better at posting, and I'm going to keep trying to do better.

I'm doing well - I just have to remember to eat and take my vitamins. My stomach doesn't hurt so much if I forget to eat, but it feels very hollow, so I know it's time.

I've gone from a size 26 to an 18 - 20 - 22, depending on who makes it. Folks are starting to notice the weight loss, and I'm feeling good.

Down 42 pounds!

Sep 09, 2008

Down 42 pounds in 9 weeks! I can't believe it. The last time I lost that much weight quickly was NOT with my original RNY - it was when I was on a doctor supervised fast ....

And now i'm losing weight while I'm eating! Go figure. All those years of starving and losing, and here I am actually EATING and losing.

I tried to explain to a friend that there is NO way surgery can be considered an "easy way" to lose weight - but NOW, when I count calories/carbs/protein, IT MATTERS - I see results... and that is more encouraging than anything else.

Constantly Learning

Aug 31, 2008

The good news about this surgery is that if you pay attention, follow the rules and take your vitamins - all will be well.

On the flip side - if you don't, it won't.

REMEMBER TO EAT!!!! I'm one to get busy and forget - and man, when my body is ready for food - my stomach HURTS!!!! and that's bad. so I've had to learn to pay attention, keep hing-protein snacks with me, and pay attention to water intake, vitamins, and protein.

Don't slack up - it will hurt you.

Work Work Work

Aug 02, 2008

Who'd have thought it would have been work to remember to eat? But I've yet to be hungry - so I have to remember to eat every two (2) hours, take my vitamins, drink water.

Good news is - it's working! I've lost more so far in four weeks than I lost with the RNY in 6 months!

It's weird getting used to how it feels to eat - learning new signals for full, and what agrees and what doesn't. Luckily, I've not had any vomiting issues since that one episode the week after surgery.

I TOTALLY underestimated the tired factor. I'm so looking forward to having my energy back.

27 lbs down!

Jul 26, 2008

Who'd have thought? I remember going into the doctor's office two weeks after my RNY in 2000 and I had only lost seven (7) lbs!

It's HARD to remember to eat - I'm never hungry. Its WORK to get in my 30 grams of protein each day - sometimes, I just have to make myself eat. I'm a little leery of eating just anything because I had one day of throwing up for no reason - but I've got to get over that.

Still feeling tired. If anything, I totally underestimated the tired factor. It will get better.

Update

Jul 22, 2008

I know, I know - it's been two weeks. How rude of me. sorry.

Surgery was 6.5 hours - hospital stay was 5 days. no complications.

Hubby was home the week after surgery - thank GOD! only one bad day - we still don't know why, but threw up from 5 am - 8:30 am the first wedneday I was home.

I've been eating yogurt, pudding, jello, cream of (chicken, mushroom, potato) soups, and I've been able to tolerate a tablespoon or two of meatloaf. I've chewed to mush chicken nuggets and a hotdog.

It takes focus to get your fludis in - I'm probably not at 40 oz/day, but I'm working on it.

I've lost about 22 lbs.

It's Here!

Jul 06, 2008

2:36 am - getting ready to take the final shower (3 of 3) with the surgical soap to get ready for today. Not nervous yet - believe it or not, I'm more worried about them being able to find a vein to start the IV than anything else.

Thanks so all who have supported me up to this point! Here's to the Dark Side!

Pre-Surgery Jitters

Jul 01, 2008

Good grief - i wanted to post weekly, and here it is over a MONTH, and I've not posted anything. duh.

Ok - I've done everything to get ready - working on getting all the businesses in order (I own four - yes, 4 businesses), bills on auto-pay, house cleaned and sorted ::laughing::

I cried yesterday at the Dr's office - SO out of character for me. I'm scared and a little frustrated because I'm a revision, and Dr. Stewart truly doesn't know what he's going to be able to do with me once he gets inside.

I'm terrified of having another failed surgery - or one that gives me so much trouble my quality of life goes down - blah blah.

I had my 47th birthday party on Saturday - tons of friends over to celebrate the beginning of the new me - I should be grateful, and I'm sure I will be - once I get over the "jitters".
