My story.. hmmm... well, I have been "morbidly obese" for over 10 years. I was never small, but I was always athletic. I played softball and volleyball in highschool and took karate for a while. As I settled down in "everyday life" I became less active. Work and home took up most of my time and I found that gaining weight became easier the more stressed I got. I became a stress eater. Anything that happened that was even remotely stressful became a reason to visit DQ or McD. Life became overwhelming... and so did my weight. As I got older, dealing with everyday life became easier. I stopped stress eating and found more constructive things to occupy my time like crafts and needlework. By that time, I was already 290 pounds and unhealthy. I found out that I was infertal and was taking medication to get to pregnant so my husband and I could start a family. Eventually, it worked! I was a soon to be mother... who was having TWINS! I was going to the gym prior to that and I weighed 270 pounds when I found out. I was told the gym was no longer an option and I was to take it easy or lose my kids. They feared my infertility issues would increase my chances at giving birth stillborn. 8 months and 60 pounds later, I gave birth to 2 wonderful boys who became my whole reason for living. And the rest is history. I have not been below 290 pounds since I gave birth to them. I have tried every diet I can find and failed. I had given up on life. My body ached. I was depressed and felt worthless. At my highest weight of 345 pounds, I thought I would be like this till the day I died... which would be a lot sooner if I didn't do something! High-blood pressure, sleep apnea, joint and pain issues, borderline diabetes. I couldn't enjoy playing with my sons. I felt miserable.
Then I got approved for my RNY... and my life has not been the same since. I am happy, truly happy with who I am becoming. I feel FANTASTIC. My life has been saved. Without that, I would have no story to tell.
