Rosemary, I can truly identify with your struggle. I am having the exact same issues with food. I am a food addict. I am having major mental issues with food that of course lead to me bingeing. Of course a binge now is not quite the same as pre op, but nevertheless...........its still not good. I am also 18 months post op and I know what your going thru. If you like.....perhaps we could offer support to one another, just email me at [email protected]. good luck with everything and hang in there, if you are a praying kind of girl, try that, it does help. God Bless You. Sara

Rosemary, you are most certainly not a failure! Life itself is a rollercoaster ride and sometimes we need help! That's what we're all here for, support and friendship. You are not alone, either, we are all with you. Some of us beside, some of us ahead, some of us behind, but we're all on this road together. If you need us, we're here.

Rosemary-so sorry that you are having a difficult time. After reading your post, I just had to send you a message. Several months ago, I was feeling as though I had failed because I had hit a plateau. Then I came to the message board and read a post from someone that contained the following quote (paraphrased because my memory stinks)..."No one can go back in time and start anew, but everyone can begin today and make a new start". I wish I could remember who posted this because everytime I start to feel down, I think of this quote. The fact that you recognize that food holds tremendous power over you is a good thing. Forgive yourself your food transgressions and get back on the horse. And don't forget the little fact that you have lost 121 pounds! That is an enormous success, you should be proud of yourself.

Dear Rosemary (beautiful name...it's my mum's name, too)...Just by coming forward to us in your post today is a major step in getting back on track. All of us post-ops have been where you are...stalled weight loss + the hungry horrors that threaten to take over and mess up all our good work. Hang around here with us, Rosemary...read the board every day, it will give you hope and courage that you can continue to succeed. You know what to do. And if you believe your issues with eating/food are too great to handle on your own, please consult a professional. There is a lot of help out there, and many, many of us need the extra hand-holding the further out we get. I am remembering you in my daily prayers. Love and hugs, Joy

Rosemary - Bless you on your journey, remember (as you said) that your TOOL is with you forever, so even though you think you can't seem to use it now and that food has a handle over you, you CAN use it when you break free. Also, have you thought about going to a support group meeting and talking about this with others who can help you? Last (I promise!) my surgeon gives out a "Getting Back on Track Series' If your surgeon doesn't, I would be happy to send a copy to you (email, fax, mail, whatever). It's realistic. You can do it, you are beautiful and strong.
