LAPBAND
I have always been heavy and I have been on what I call the life long diet. I have tried just about everything and I will lose 10 – 20 lbs but I always gain it back and more. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and border line diabetic. I have had 2 c-sections, 1 ectopic pregnancy and a hysterectomy so needless to say I was not even thinking about gastric bypass and decided to have the lap band. I started researching and thing hard about it last year and I decided this was the year to get healthy. I have 2 children 14 and 6 or should I say 40 and 42. I started my journey in January I talked to my doctor and she said she felt I would benefit from the band. She was very supportive and gave me the name of a nutritionist and WLS doctor. I was still deciding if this was best for me so I started seeing the nutritionist and I am so glad I did. I have been to a nutritionist before and the person made you feel like you were not human just worthless. But this nutritionist is very nice and personable and thanks to her I found my WLS doctor who is very nice. I decided in June to make the call and schedule a consult with the doctor (7/1) he told me to lose btwn 20 – 25 lbs before the surgery because if my height 5'. The staff is very nice and the Program Director is super nice and makes you feel like you are a part of her family.
I had to have 6 tests:
7/11 - WLS nutritionist
7/15 - Pulmonologist use inhaler before I exercise
7/15 - Psych
8/2 - Sleep study
8/15 - go get fitted for cpap machine real sexy not
8/?? - Cardio
8/19 - Stress test
9/2 – results from stress test may have a blocked artery need cardio cath freaking out
9/6 - do sleep study with cpap machine
9/11 - have cardio cath no problem just big boobs
9/30 - released from cardio doc
10/1 - papers sent to Aetna now the game begins hoping to be schedule for November
need to work harder
10/10 - received call from doc's office I am approved waiting for the surgery date
10/14 - surgey date 12/05
