My Grandmother had a job to do people,,, feed her family.. with a farm family mindset. She had lived through the Great Depression and we were never going without 3 squares a day, homemade desserts, and homemade snacks. Each meal to die for.. laid out for company style. Chicken coup in the back yard for fresh eggs every day and a fresh sunday chicken (didn't eat chicken on the bone for a very long time after witnessing how that delicious chicken was terminated), bacon, sausage, homemade biscuits with fresh cream gravy every damn morning, up till my uber thin, plant working grandfather had his first heart attack in his 70's.

Lunch was light but still a spread, always disappointing to eat lunch at friends house... fruit? what? not in a turnover or a cake? where is the fresh butter and cream? you people are starving!

Dinner ,,, what we called supper was usually eaten at home meaning our mom cooked meaning it sucked a little. She retained none of our grandmothers cooking expertise and the meals were still very fattening but not as homemade.

Don't get me started on weekends or special occasions that is a whole different event and totally Hobbit style. The layout was crazy and the perfect thing you could say to my Grannie was,"That was so good... i am so full.. i think i could throw up." Music to her ears.

We played outside all day from 7 am till 11 am lunch then mandatory rest then back outside then 3:30 snack, then back to playing .... it was a routine so we stayed thin. When I say thin I mean not fat ,thin. I wore a size 9, sometimes a 10-12 and i was 145 pounds when I as a senior in high school. I am 5'8 so it all looked pretty dang good back in the day. I gained weight consistently every year, then I would diet then I would gain, then I would diet then I would gain... you all know. I haven't been in the 100's since my early 20's and I have been in the 300's for the last 4 or 5 years. I would loose into the 200's every year then back into the 3's right after vacation or whatever event set me off.

I wanted to get this procedure years ago but I didn't.... because I have nothing wrong with me! No diabetes, No high blood pressure, No hyper tension, No high cholesterol, NOTHING. The doctor always said," wow fit as a fiddle" then I would decide not to have the procedure. I though I was just Vain.

When I was sitting at my desk in January rubbing my plantar fasciitis that was aching and not wanting to go to the bathroom because it hurt and it hit me. I was completely sedentary... completely. i used to do the elliptical 4 times a week and could walk where ever, whenever and now I hated to move. I cried for 15 minutes and called Dr Hodges. My cousin had the sleeve done with him and it went with no complications so I made up my mind. I was a self pay so it all went own in a month, no time to change my mind thank goodness. Here i am 3 days post op and I lived.

I will post again about that adventure because this is too long already.....Thank you for taking the time to read my mini history. Scarlette
