Hello
Jun 26, 2020
I started my pre-op diet about a month ago and have lost about 16 pounds. I still have about 5 to 6 weeks to go before getting sleeved. (Liquid diet 2 weeks pre-op -- not looking forward to that!).
I live in New Zealand and it is winter -- quite cold some days as houses do not have central heating. (We have a woodstove and a heat pump in the family room, and wall-hung fan heaters in two bathrooms, and that is about it.) It varies a lot though -- we also have lovely warm sunny days at times. But it was 42 degrees inside the bedroom when I woke up a few days ago! I usually overheat far more than I am cold, but I think the diet has affected me a bit and I am often cold now.
August 10th when I get sleeved is the tail end of winter. I have been reading a lot and watching a lot of YouTube clips on WLS. It has been useful to know what to expect (eg gas pain and the threat of regain in years 2 to 3). There are a lot of conflicting opinions, however (eg exercise post-op or not, how much protein, how low in kcals you will have to stay for the rest of your life if you don't want to end up regaining a lot).
It is encouraging seeing people's before and after photos. I will try to take one soon -- I wish I knew what my highest weight was, but I put some on during lockdown and didn't weigh myself until I had been dieting for a while (that figure was 264.6 and I am now about 248.
At this point, I can't think of much else to say. I hope this community will help me.
Cheers, Selene
