Welcome to a smaller me! My name is Darlene. I live in the Eastern most part of Southern Va. Been a big girl all of my life and for most of my life I was ok with heavy! Unfortunately, the aging process is NOT ok with heavy! My Father was Not ok with heavy but my Mom just loved me  regardless. I was tall and played center on my HS girls basketball team...so I used heavy to my advantage! Grew up shy and if you did not hear me speak you would not even know I was there! In college met the love of my life...at least that's what I thought at the time. Graduated with bachelors in graphic design, married and had my Daughter all by the ripe old age of 23. Husband #1 barely lasted 7 yrs, but long enough for the arrival of my Son. I was a single Mom for 12 yrs and although it was HARD at times, I would not change a minute of those 12 yrs! We were the three musketeers through thick and thin! I put myself through nursing school while raising my babies, and worked to support the three of us. Then came along the REAL love of my life, my hubby & my BFF! We met in the ER, he was a tech & I was the night charge nurse! My family of three grew to six! We have three beautiful grand daughters and they are the third reason I wanted gastric bypass surgery! So then you may be asking what were the 1st & 2nd reasons! Well at the ripe old age of 54, I'm not so shy any more....intimacy with my younger hubby was the 2nd reason! At 357lbs well I'll just say there was no intimacy, especially in the past few yrs. The 1st and biggest reason for surgery was the chronic joint pain and shortness of breathe to do ANY thing! Vacations were exhausting, working was exhausting and matter of a fact everything was exhausting! I quickly learned that turning 50 was NOT ok with heavy! So as you probably read above this yammering..2010 was a huge self realization that I was missing out on life and heavy was going to get heavier unless I changed my thinking, my life and my eating habits! Well this is me and thanks for reading!
