Happy New Year!

Jan 02, 2015

I have been at my goal for a couple of months now, but have also hit Dr W's goal! Woohoo! He's goal seems to be hard to hold onto! Too many carbs at Christmas easily adds a pound! Cutting the carbs takes the pound away! Amazing how fragil our health & weigh can change on good or bad choices in life! My goals for this year is to complete a half marathon (signed up for the Shamrock in March), pray the knee holds out! Second goal is to run/jog at least 15 miles a week this year! My third goal is to concentrate less on what I have done and focus on the ones I love! Be a better wife (more attentive, enjoy our time together, less tech and more touchy feeler), be a better Mom (keep in touch better, send notes & cards more, call more)! Wish me luck.... Because I love my phone & Ipad and I'm Not a touchy feeley kinda girl and my oldest is moving to Japan so keeping in touch will be a challenge! Now that I think about that half marathon might be the easiest goal of the three! Haha!

Hitting goal!

Sep 30, 2014

So close to goal! Although this is goal #3, it is a long time hope to be under 150. When I started this wt loss journey I set my goal to weigh 200 lbs. I saw within a few months that goal was too easy and changed my goal to weigh 170lbs. As my one year Surgiversary was nearing, I moved my goal to weigh 150lbs. Not to mention the 150 weigh is within a normal BMI, which makes my surgeon HAPPY! I can not believe how active I have become!  Love, Love, Love this wt loss decision!!!

Seat belt extender

May 15, 2014

This past week was a huge accomplishment in my weight loss journey! I had been planning a visit to see my Son and Daughter in law, they live in Omaha.  The last time I saw him was in October (2013), for their wedding. At that time they lived in Kansas and we all flew to Kansas for the wedding. Now why in the world would two people who all of their families live on the East Coast want to get married in Kansas, of which they had only lived there for four months themselves. So we all flew the Kansas. And by the way I hate flying! Not because of the whole plummeting to your death thing, but because of everyone looking at you, praying that YOU the "fat Lady" will not be sitting next to them! And then there is the seat belt extender! I remember flying to Florida for work (about 8-9 yrs ago) and being to embarrassed to ask for the extender that I hid the seatbelt around and under me that it appeared that I was seatbelted. I was so squished in the seat that it would have taken a crane to get me out of that seat anyhow! But the Kansas trip I could not be sneaky, my seat partner was my oldest granddaughter and nothing gets past this five year old, so I had to be good. On the way to Kansas she said nothing, but coming back she asked "Gramma why do have to have that and I don't?" After my explanation she quietly stated "oh"! Her simple little "oh", bothered me more than asking for an extender and having the flight attendant say loudly in front of everyone "could you pass the seatbelt extender back to the Lady in the purple please". Come to think about it, it was then that my Granddaughter asked what the extender was. Sooooooo...here I was again, this time 150 lbs lighter and this time flying alone. Right from the beginning I noticed, the pep in my step walking through the terminal. We had to walk out and up to the plane. I noticed the ease of walking through the isles and able to walk frontwards and not sideways and even sidways I would bump into everyone that was seated. And then I was able to sit in the seat without having to put the arms up. Matter of a fact I sat in the seat with great comfort, except for the whole long leg thing, but no matter how much wt I loose those legs and big feet will be a nuisance. Then came the true test....clicking the belt on....I was so excited I took pictures and sent them to my husband, Daughter and Son! Not only did the belt fit with ease, but I had several inches to spare!

Happy nine month anniversary, to me ;)

May 12, 2014

And in nine months I am down 157lbs!! Woohoo! I remember family and friends asking me what goal was I striving for with my weight loss.  I always would answer "to weight 200 lbs" and I had hope that goal would be achievable before my first yr. anniversary. As I pushed closer and closer to that magical 200 lb weight, I realized my REAL goal should at least have a normal BMI, so I lowered my goal weight! I also think 30 lb increments are good "mini goals". I'm not even sure I was an Adult when I weighed under two hundred pounds! I love the new me! So much energy! And the fact I can go into Ross, Marshall's, New York & company and even the Loft, to buy what ever I want & it fits, it is soooo exciting!

Love being me at almost 9mo post op!!

May 05, 2014

My 9 mo anniversary will be 5/12/14 and today (if you count the 8lb wt loss during my pre-surgery full liquid diet & I do!! LOL) I am down 150 lbs!  WooHoo! Funny I did not even think about the huge milestone because I have been focusing on getting below 200 lbs!  Then I was browsing blogs this morning and realized.....WOW I have lost a whole person!  I love, love, love the new me! I have so much more energy now and have rediscovered activity's that I was not able to do....... In years!!  There are days when I get so consumed with eating and drinking that I have to step back and think, "OK Darlene so you missed the boat today, get over it and more on". I still have lots of goals I am looking forward to (as far as my wt loss), I still have my worries & concerns.....mostly "regain" worries, but I am 100% happy with my surgery decision and would do it again in a heart beat.....just wish I had done it sooner!
