My journey has begun!!!!

Well I have begun my journey back to good health. After being injured with a shattered knee in 2009 and being unable to get around much then recovering from several knee surgeries and knee replacement I had let myself get to an unbelievable 480 lbs. I had developed high blood pressure and edema of the lower extremities. I was essentially eating myself to death.
Almost one year ago I made the decision I needed help and due to the fact that my wife had recently had gastric bypass surgery and has lost an incredible 165 lbs. I though I would have the gastric vertical sleeve surgery. I saw her surgeon Dr. Marx Zare, who agreed I was a candidate for the surgery.
After six more months of insurance red tape and finally approval I was scheduled for my surgery on 04/10/2012. I was at 464lbs just prior to the surgery after a week of Bariatric Pre surgery diet.
I won't lie after surgery I was so nauseated for the next two day that I was miserable. I was able to go home on 04/13/2012 and began two weeks of liquid only diet. I made it through that and am now one week into puree' foods. my weight loss continues to be steady and on 04/23/2012 I have lost 50lbs. I am amazed hope it continues at this rate.
I want to thank my doctor, who I truly believe has saved my life.
