Aug 29, 2009

It's been a while since I posted anything, so here I am.  I have not lost 66 pounds.  It's amazing how different I feel.  I look in the mirror and think that I have a long way to go, but people all around me are noticing a difference.  I have days that I wonder what the hell did I do to myself, but most days I'm very glad I made the decision to get healthy.  I'm now an expert at throwing up.  I can do it without making any noise.  I had a couple of rough days this week, but overall, most days are good.  My biggest struggle at this point is getting all my water in.  That was never a problem in the past, but I struggle often with it.  I'm sure each day will continue to get better!

Have a Terrific Day!

2 week post surgery appointment

Jul 22, 2009

I just got back from my two week post surgery appointment.  I've lost 45 pounds and I get to start eating soft foods!  I'm very excited.  I go back to work on the 29th and I'm excited about that as well.  I love my job and the people I work with, so I'm ready!

I'm home!

Jul 08, 2009

Well I had surgery yesterday and I'm home today!  I feel a little rough, but I did everything on the check list to get out and my doctor wants me to continue to doing the things on the check list.  He realizes that most people don't get enough rest in the hospital, so that is part of the reason he sent me home.

3 days to go

Jul 03, 2009

I went to the doctor on Thursday and met with the most awesome PA.  As of Thursday I had lost 19 pounds.  I'm ready for my surgery and now have a time, so reality is really setting in that this is going to happen.  I'm a little nervous, but I'm keeping positive thoughts.  I am getting a few things done around the house today, so I can come home to a clean house.  Bryan did spring cleaning about a week ago, so this is just normal weekly stuff.  This will probably be my last post until after surgery, so I'll see you on the other side!

Putting myself to the test...

Jun 28, 2009

I guess because I don't have enough tests or stress in my life, I have tested myself to see if I could resist.  Last night my partner and I were out and I asked him is he wanted to stop for ice cream.  I told him I knew I couldn't have any, but I would be willing to buy him an ice cream cone.  He accepted.  Then today after church there is a group who typically goes out to breakfast.  I really enjoy the fellowship we have at these outings, so I said let's go.  I forgot to bring a protein bar or anything to eat, so while everyone ate, I had decaf coffee and water with lemon. I refrained.  Of course both times Bryan was with me, and he would have put up a little fight if I had ordered anything.  I'm home now, I just ate and I feel good that I was able to refrain from eating something that isn't on my program.  Yesterday, I walked so much that according to my pedometer which is built into my cell phone, I put out about 142 calories more than I took in.  That's pretty awesome, I can't say that my body is used to that since in past months I only put out 1/8 of what I put in.  So overall I leave this weekend behind feeling some accomplishment!  I'm 9 days for surgery and working hard to make habits that will keep my weight loss and maintenance go for the rest of my life.

Have A Great Day!

High Protein Cereal and Snacks

Jun 24, 2009

My doctor's office has a line of cereal and snacks that I have found to be quite good.  You can buy this food online.  They have a sample pack for $7.50 plus postage.  It has about 15 items.  It has all three types of cereal, my favorite is apple cinnamon, the honey almond isn't bad though.  The cereal reminds me of cheerios or apple jacks.  Also in the sample pack are pretzel sticks, (my faves are cinnamon toast and honey mustard jalapeno) protein chips, etc.  If you're interested check it out at http://www.kaysnaturals.com/  Most of the items are 10g of protein and around 120 calories.  It makes for a nice evening snack.  The cereal is good for breakfast or a snack without milk.  Yummy!

13 days until surgery

Jun 24, 2009

Don't be alarmed that I'm writing in Red, it's my favorite color!  I've been cutting down for over a week.  I've been off caffeine and pop for over a week.  I started my pre-op diet on Monday.  I'm doing well so far.  I've lost 8 pounds since last Friday.  I'm not hungry and having to force myself to get the 800-900 calories my doctor wants me to get in.  The food they sell at his office is very good, but I just am not hungry.  I experienced this when I was on the medically managed program too.  I'm drinking about 130 ounces of water, which is normal for me.  I love water, so that's not a big deal.  I've been walking 30 minutes a day for the last few days.  I'm trying to get in the habit.  I feel good and can't wait to have surgery.
