Update!

Apr 25, 2010

So I'm about 3.5 weeks post surgery and I'm feeling pretty great. I'm down a total of  17 pounds! I've also started doing (modified) P90X... He he it's something I NEVER thought I'd be doing! The workouts are intense but good. And the nice thing is it's all done at home so there's no worrying about what people are thinking. I know that's one major reason I don't go to the gym!

I think I'm healing abnormally fast, I still have no pain, and I can eat almost anything. I'm not trying to break the rules but I honestly feel like I'm back to pre-surgery! It scares me a bit as I REALLY don't want to eat like I used to, it's the reason I had the surgery!

When I went to my surgeons seminar, prior to surgery, there were previous patients that we could ask questions and see about their experience and they were all above average weight loss... Now I want to know what they did! I know 17 pounds is WAY more than I've ever lost on any other diets in 4 weeks, but 15 of those pounds came in my first week post op, now it's slowed WAY down. Is this normal? If anyone else out there who's had the lapband reads this, I'd love to hear about your first few months and how they went... Did you lose really quickly or did you not lose much until your first fill, second fill, later?

I read bunches of stories here and watched many youtube videos prior to surgery that were awesome! 70 pounds in 3 months, 65 in 3 months, 50 etc. So I'm wondering if they lost all 70 pounds in the first month or later in the 3 months... I know I shouldn't compare and I'm probably just sounding like I'm complaining, but that's not it at all. I've never personally known anyone who's gone through this surgery so there's not really anyone I can call to ask! So thank you to all of you here, it's been an awesome help to have OH to turn to.

Now I'm rambling! It's bedtime, good night to you all, and I hope you have an incredible day tomorrow!

Feeling little to no pain...

Apr 06, 2010

Which should be a good thing! However... I sneezed last night and felt something funny in my tummy and I was in a bit of pain. When I woke up this morning I felt as though I had never had the surgery! Maybe the band just snapped right off my stomach and I'm back to normal!? Of course I've been googling "Band Slippage" and all sorts of other things that could have happened, but google enhanced, self-diagnosis can't ever be a good thing!

Ugh, I'm sure I'm over thinking things but I'm incredibly glad my post op is tomorrow, maybe they can calm my nerves!

BTW, surgery went really well! I stayed the night in the hospital (thankfully) and they determined that I had post op hypoxia (low oxy levels) so they sent me home on oxygen, which normally would be ok, but without insurance became an added expense... Someday I'll have everything paid off and just get to enjoy the new me! :) Hopefully that time will come sooner rather than later!

Surgery tomorrow!

Mar 30, 2010

WOW, I can't believe it's actually tomorrow! It honestly feels like yesterday that I was sitting in the informational seminar. Time has gone SO fast!

I'm not as nervous as I thought I would be, maybe it just hasn't sunken in yet! I'm sure tomorrow will be weird... The two day liquid diet has been really awesome! My mom made homemade onion soup, OMG to die for! I'd eat that even when I wasn't doing just liquids! Of course she just strained out the onions for me! :) She's the best!

My friends and family have been so supportive! Much more than I had expected. I was actually worried that they would be judgmental, like why don't you try something else, but they haven't! It's such a relief! I love them all dearly.

I'm hoping that the surgery goes well tomorrow, I'm sure it will. Dr. Perlman has been great! She let me ask all these silly (probably stupid) questions at the last appointment, which really calmed my nerves! I also had an awesome experience with the staff for my testing! They were all so encouraging and made sure I'd come back to check in and show them my results! It was great!

It seems like every one around me has been amazing. Even walking into the Max Muscle store to buy my protein was awesome! THey gave me an awesome deal on the powder, as well as two free blender bottles (if you haven't tried them yet, DO! They seriously make the smoothest shakes ever!) and they too said I should come in to show them the results!

I took before photos tonight, which is a surreal experience. I'm a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding this summer so I put on my B.M. dress, I'm excited to see how much it changes from now to the wedding.

OK... I think that's probably enough rambling for tonight. Hope you all have an amazing day!
