Introduction to me.

Oct 22, 2006

I'm a nurse in Labor and Delivery at the hospital that I will be having WLS surgery at. I'm extremely excited about this since finding this website! Being a nurse I find research extremely important before making a life changing decision like this. I can say this is the most informative website I've come across.
I have been overweight, obese or morbidly obese most of my life. I have been on every diet there is and have been able to lose but never keep it off long term. I hope to use this surgery as my "tool" along with diet and exercise to keep it off for good! I'm not using this surgery as a fix-all for my life. I will admit I have a wonderful life! I would say the only complaint I have is that I don't do as many things with my husband because I'm self conscious about being overweight.  I'm constantly trying to find clothes to cover up my weight and end up wearing baggy sweatshirts and jeans. I've realized that the extra weight has also affected the way I interact with others. I'm not as outgoing as I used to be when I was just overweight.
My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for the last year without success. My periods have now become irregular, which I attribute to the extra weight I have been carrying around. I want to have a healthy pregnancy  for both a baby and myself and for that to be possible I need to be at a healthy weight.
My husband is the most wonderful man I've ever met! We have a wonderful marriage! I'm truly lucky to have such a supportive husband and family! He says he loves me thick or thin, but I think I would love my body more thin! This decision is ultimately mine to make because I have to live in this body, but he is supportive either way. That makes me very happy!
I can't wait to get this process started!
