Growing up I always heard "yeah your a little overweight but your not that bad" or "I was bigger when I was your age but as I got older it started coming off, it will for you too".  Well it didn't as I got older it came on even more, about 20 pounds a year to be exact.  When I was 19 and went to GYN Doctor for the first time he had me in tears by the time I left, he said "Your OBESE and FAT and I suggest you do not get pregnant until you lose weight"  I swore I would never go back to him after that, but then I thought...He is the first person to be that honest with me, I did see him again and he was my Doctor for when I did have children which he was super.  We sometimes don't want to hear the brutal honesty but sometimes we need to.  Did it wake me up to lose weight?  HECK NO!!

Its hard to believe 5 years ago I was one of those people that were totally against Gastric Surgery.  About 1 year ago I hit my highest weight of 303, I had always promised myself I would never allow myself above 300.  When I hit that mark I decided it was time to get more educated on surgery options.  And here I am one year later...I had my Lap RNY surgery on April 3, 2013.  I feel pretty good, I still feel the weight loss is slower than I would like but I am so happy that I went through with the surgery. The only regret I have is I did not go get educated on this years ago.  My advice to anyone unsure of the surgery is to go to support meetings and get educated before you make the decision.  You might still think surgery isn't for you and that's fine, only you can decide that.  I am only saying getting educated is what helped me decide.
