Well, surgery day has come and gone! I can hardly believe it. My doctor tells me the surgery went well, although it doesn't exactly feel that way lol. I am in SO MUCH PAIN! No in all seriousness, I am extremely grateful to my surgeon for his hard work and I couldn't be happier. I just wasn't expecting this much and this level of pain after having experienced 2 c-sections, I thought this surgery would be a walk in the park but it has been far from it. I am looking forward to reporting my progress and as always reaching out for support and lending support here where I can. This site has been an invaluable tool, everyone is so open and willing to give advice and share knowledge, I come here several times a month to find answers to questions and read inspirational stories of other folks who have gone through this already.

Surgery Date

Jan 21, 2018

I recently completed my pre-surgery monitored weightloss program. The next step was approval by the surgeon, which I got last week! He said he thinks I am a great canididate and we set my surgery date for February 20th, pending insurance approval. I am trying not to get too excited till I get my approval letter in the mail from the insurance company though. 2018 is a big year for me, I plan to get my surgery and to graduate from college this Fall. I'll be the first in my family to do so. I have so much to be thankful for and so much to look forward to. I can only imagine what my life will look like a year from now!

That's all for now, hopefully I'll be checking in soon with my approval in hand :)

Struggling

Oct 08, 2017

I am not happy to report that I am struggling to lose the weight I need to in order to qualify for my surgery. I need to lose about 9 more pounds before I can be sent to the surgeon and have my suregery scheduled. I have drastically changed my diet since starting on this path, I used to eat literally whatever I felt like. Now I eat the my prescribed diet (high protien, low carb) but I have lost minimal weight. I am an active mom and I try to work out t least a few times a week, but the dial on the scale just isn't moving. I know I could stand to work out more but I have back problems that prevent me from working out as much as I'd like to. Well, that's all for now, that's where I am at. I will continue to keep a positive outlook and eat a healthy diet, I will try to work more exercise into the coming weeks.
