Too much?

Nov 14, 2008

Well, yesterday I had my, umm, fifth fill.  I think I now have 8.6 cc's in my 10 cc band.  I wasn't sure I needed a fill, but after a couple questions, Dr. Srikanth was pretty sure I did.  I am now pretty tight.  It may settle down.  I have had restriction right after a fill before and then it settled down some.  So we will see.  Still able to do liquids and protein just fine, so not an emergency or anything.  Had some trouble with vitamins and tomato soup today.

We moved the end of October.  What an experience, I hate moving.  I ate terribly during the move.  I could eat just about anything I wanted and a lot more than I should be able to.  This time we moved to a smaller place.  Had to get rid of a lot of stuff.  Actually we still need to get rid of more.  I love the new place and I don't need all this stuff, but boy I hate to part with some of these things.  I can't wait to get everything settled.  It sure is taking a long time though.  Hmm, maybe I should be doing that instead of writing this???

I was so busy, I let my 5 month bandiversary slip by.  I was taking my measurements every month and I just realized I am 10 days late this month.  I am now down 59 pounds from my highest weight.  The band is a great invention!!  I feel great.  I was able to do a lot more during the move than I would have been able to do before undertaking this journey.

We moved to a place that has sidewalks and a walking path near a river.  I can't wait to take a walk this weekend.  Sounds like we might have some good weather for that.  My treadmill is still kind of buried in the garage.  I need to get that turned around.  The WII Fit is still in a box somewhere.  Lots of exercise during the biggest part of the move, but now...not so much.

50 pounds lost and then ONEDERLAND all in the same week

Oct 03, 2008

Wow, last Saturday I finally reached a 50 pound loss.  I felt like that had taken a while since I have only been losing 5 pounds a month for the past two months.  Then today (Friday) I lost the 3 other pounds I needed to reach ONEDERLAND.  That feels so good.  Every time I type that word I expect to hear trumpets or something.

I have a fill/checkup scheduled for Tuesday, but not sure I need a fill.  Maybe just a touch would make it easier to stay compliant.

I have not been entirely angelic in following my surgeons eating plan.  Although I think I am compliant more than 80% of the time.

Going to go buy a purse for losing 50 pounds and a wallet too for reaching ONEDERLAND.

3rd fill

Sep 11, 2008

I got my third fill on 9/8.  I really needed it.  The past couple of weeks I could eat too much too quickly without any problems.  I was frequently hungry even after eating good bandster meals.  I did lose 4 pounds over the past month, but the last couple of weeks I was up and down.  Two days on fluids after my fill and I didn't lose anything, but first day on mushies and was down a pound!  I have not had any PBing or any real sliming as of yet.  However, I need to break some bad habits or I'm afraid that I will soon experience some problems.  I still tend to eat too fast and take bigger bites when I'm distracted.

2nd Fill

Aug 05, 2008

My second fill appointment could not have come at a better time.  I have been getting very hungry between meals and my weight loss has slowed down quite a bit.

To confess, I have had three days over the past two weeks that I did not eat the best.

Hopefully this fill will help me get back on track.

I now have 7 cc's in my 10 cc band and can feel the restriction.  I hope it lasts.

First Fill 7-8-08

Jul 09, 2008

I got my first fill yesterday.  I was a little nervous.  Not too bad for someone who is normally needle phobic.  All I've been through so far I think has kind of curbed the phobia (testing, iv's, iron fusions).

It took her a few minutes of really pushing around trying to find the right spot and then bingo she got it on the first try.  Didn't hurt more than a little pinch.  I'll have to say it was a little weird to sit up with the needle still in there and drink water, but not really a problem.

I got 6 cc's and the plan is to do another cc next month.  Woo hoo!  I'm so excited.  I realize that I probably won't get much restriction from this first fill, but since she gave me 6 cc's I should feel some for at least a while, I would think.

Now 48 hours of warm liquids and protein shakes to rest the plumbing.  Should be good for dropping another pound or two.

3 weeks plus 2 days...

Jun 27, 2008

Wow, time flies.  I went back to work this week.  Still somewhat tired at the end of the day, but steadily getting better.  Down 33 pounds at this point.

Feeling pretty good.  Can't wait for mushy days.  Only 5 more days of liquids only.

I have my first fill appointment scheduled for July 8th.  Should be interesting, I will still be on mushies at that point.

Recovery isn't fun.  Not that I'm having any problems really.  It's just that a good friend could use some help moving, but I can't really help.  5 pound limit on lifting for another 3 weeks.

Had a great blood pressure reading this week.  Now I already got a warning that I need to watch that as the weight comes off.  Still on my BP meds, so want to stop them before the BP gets too low.

My blood sugar has been very good too.  Had some spikes early on, but as I have recovered it has stabilized.

I am really tired of protein shakes.  Ordered some more Unjury, since I like that best.

It's already been over a week.

Time flies.  And at times it drags.  I have to get iron infusions, like many of us do.  The last one was not fun.  Actually, the first two were painful.  The iron going in was very hard on my veins.  Made my arm just ache.  Then the  IV infiltrated the vein on the back of my hand.  Oh well.  Today they decided to try a vein in my arm and viola it didn't hurt at all.  However, I mentioned that I had a busy morning and may have been a bit behind on my fluid intake.  The next thing I know they are keeping me around an extra hour to pump more fluids in me.  I appreciate how much they care, but I wasn't that low on fluid.  Oh well.  My diet now consists of clear liquids and protein drinks and of course many pills and vitamins.  I still haven't heard back from the doc's office regarding my post op questions.  I really want to know about the iron that I am taking.  I feel that it is really messing with my system (terrible gas and frequent black diareah).  I have an appt with him on the 23rd, so I think I will just wait and talk with him then.  Once I am able to add real food, it will probably get better.  I have lost a total of 25 pounds at this point, this makes me very happy.  Although there are some minor problems making this journey, it is still worth it to me.

Pain is subsiding

Jun 08, 2008

I am now four days out and my pain has subsided quite a bit.  Not quite ready to stop taking pain killers. Today's issues are mostly with getting down these darn iron pills.  They are quite large.  Taste really bad when crushed and take a long time to get down when cutting them up.  It feels like self care is a full time job.  Breath, walk, vitamins, liquids - then do them all again.  Not much time in between for anything else.  Looking forward to getting into a manageable routine.

Back Home

Surgery was two days ago.  Everything went well.  I have quite a bit of pain on the port side and had a lot of trouble getting in and out of bed.  Also experiencing a lot of nausea.  But at least it comes and goes.  Trying to figure out my post op instructions since I have conflicting information on several different documents.  No trouble drinking fluids, so that's all good.

2 More Days & Iron Infusions Hurt

Jun 02, 2008

OK, I'm anemic.  Doc ordered 5 iron infusions.  Had the first one today.  Just an IV no big deal.  Ha, the solution made my arm ache for about 30 mins to an hour afterward.  At least it didn't last forever.

My shoulder with arthritis started acting up today.  It had been pretty good since stopping the aleve, but today it really aches and tylenol is not doing anything to help.

Last night my blood sugar took a dive so I had some diluted aj before bed.  That did the trick and it seems to have stabilized today.

Two more days.  I've been very nervous today.  Still ready to go though.  Wish the time would just melt away.
