Epworth Hospital

"I found all the staff very helpful and accommodating, both to requests and to questions. I did have my surgery over the Christmas/summer break, so they had 'combined' wards leading to more patients than is typical. The request for a private room was not honored, meaning that I had 3 roomates at one time, with a total of 5 different ones in three days. Nurses perhaps a bit 'light happy' in the darker hours of the night and morning, but there doing mindful and attentive work. Not good for resting though. Again, I think that was a phenomena of the time that I elected to schedule my surgery"

Patrick Moore

"I met Dr. Moore at an informational session nearly a year ago...my first real venture into researching surgery (initially the lapband). I appreciated his manner ~ that confidence and self-assuradness that you want in a surgeon, along with a fun and sly sense of humor. rnrnI stayed after the seminar and although it was some 30 minutes after the session, he still answered my questions. As a new person in a new country, I was a bit baffled that I would need to get a physician's referral...as I didn't have one locally and that one from my US physician wouldn't suffice. When I said \"So, lets' see if I have this right...I need to get a referrel from a physician who doesn't even know me in order to even be a candidate for you?\". He stopped....thought for a second, and said \"THAT...is a great question...and then laughed\". We talked some more.rnrnI attended the second info seminar, but had been doing research on the VSG. I listened through more critical ears about the LapBand, and then made an appointment to see Dr. Moore.rnrnWhen I got to his office, he took one look at me and said \"You've been to two of the seminares......from North America....and questions about insurance, right?\". I smiled and said that he did recall well. Gotta love it when someone remembers you.rnrnThe first consult was great. I brought in all my information and we had a good talk about options. I didn't feel 'pushed' one way or the other. When I asked \"If he were in my position which would he recommend?\" Without hesitation he said the VSG ~ due to my body size, family predisposition, and the demands of my work. And then we scheduled surgery.rnrnHis office staffer Christine is phenominal ~ even phoning me on her vacation before my surgery to wish me well. She said that she had been thinking of me while watering her garden that morning.rnrnDouble thumbs up. I think Mr. Moore appreciates people who do their homework and come ready for discussion. Hospital visits each morning of my stay...answered all my questions as I had them. Still with confidence and humor both. We're a good patient/doctor match, I do believe.rnrnNegatives...hmmmm.....second consult he was running late and I had to get somewhere so we both were more throwing questions and answers back and forth. But that was only because of the paramaters of time. Our conversation was informative and very helpful. Just busy person meeting busy person."
