Alright!!!!  I had my Greenfield Filter placed by Dr. Atkinson. He is the sweetest guy.  Love his mannerism.  Tender, caring and nice.  He did an awsome job!!   Well ALLLLLL the work is OVER and now all I have to do is wait for my surgery.  March 6th, 2008!!  Woohoooo!!
Still  a lot of different emotions.....Happy...Scared....Fearful....
However, I prayed about this and told God that I put this completely in his hands and if I am not supposed to have this done....then I trust HIM completely.  Everything has just sailed thru...it has been a lot to do, but God has blessed me every step of the way....Sooooo, I am in his hands.  
God is in charge and ALL is well.  Wherever I am God is and ALL is well!!
I thank him for this amazing blessing that he is giving me a second chance.
I love him so!!!

Well, I made it thru the EGD and everybody was right....it was a breeze.
No pain, no problem.  The worst part was waiting and thinking.  My doctor had an emergency surgery that morning and put everyone of the rest of us way behind.  He told me that the lining of my GI tract was inflammed and that I had reflux.  Besides that, my EGD biopsy came back today and all is clear.
I have my filter placed tomorrow and then I am home free.  Prayers needed here.  Thank you dearest Lord for your many many blessings!

I spent half the day at Dr. Mitchell's office doing all kinds of things from chest xray to blood test to hospital pre-registration.  Took a long time, but I have it over now.  I was down another 4lbs. since my last appt.  That makes a total of 9.5lbs.  Not really alot, but at this point every pound I can get off before surgery is going to help the surgery to go better.  So, I am happy about the loss and plan on losing more.  My white blood cell count is up for some reason and I have to go to my regular doctor in a week to make sure it comes back down.  Prayers.....  EDG is this Friday 2/15/08 and my filter for blood clots is scheduled for next Wed. 2/20/08 and then we are home free....

I received my Approval today from BCBSNC!  Thank you dear Lord!
Prayers does wonders.....  It is exciting and yet scary.  It is getting closer now!  Yipeeeee!!!

On Feb. 1, 2008  I had my last appt. with Dr. Weiner and found out that I am not crazy!   Soooo, after having a lenghty conversation with her, she says that she is giving me a good report and that she is sending over clearance for me.  WoooooooHooooooo!!!!!
So as far as I can tell, I only have ONE more hurdle yet to go.....that is the EGD.  So, I have a Pre-Op appt. on 2/13/08 to schedule the EGD and then I will have my clearance from everything and they will submit it to my insurance.  Then I are home free!!!!    That's all I have for now.  This has sure been a lot of work, but everybody said it would be and from what I can tell, it is only the BEGINNING!!!!  I'm ready!!!

Alrighty, I am trying here!  On (Jan. 31, 2008)  I joined Lifetime Fitness.
My daughter and I went there to work out.  Yes, I look like a blob, but you know what, I gotta start somewhere.  I will not always look like that blob.  
I am gonna work myself into being "One Hot Grandma"  (lol) 

On Jan. 28, 2008  I met w/t Dr. Atkinson and discussed having the filter put in for safety precaution b/f having the WLS.  It procedure sounds pretty scary, but it does give me a sense of peace knowing that I will be protected if I do throw a blood clot.  This procedure will be Feb. 15th.  Kristy, my daughter is going to take me.  I sure love her!!!  She has been very supportive.

I went to the Cardioligist on 1-23-08 and did my stress test.  I was there for about three hours.  Today, the 24th I received a call from their office telling me that everything looked fine!        WooooHoooo!!!!!!!
They are sending the results to Dr. Mitchell for clearance.  It's always scary taking those test but it feels soooo good when they come back with good results.   Once again....Thank you dear God!!!  God is good, isn't he 

December 18th--Met with Cardiologist to talk about surgery and the test I would need to take regarding my heart before I have the surgery.  We also went over issues about blood clot possibilities.  I have had a blood clot after a prior surgery that I had. (not related to WLS)

December 20th--Met with PCP to talk about surgery and get a letter of referral from him.  Also, had my thryroid tested, which came out good.
Also gathered last 5 yrs. of weight and other health issues and had them sent to my current doctor.

Got thru the holidays without weight gain.  Imagine that....

Jan. 3, 2008----Had bone density test which came out good.
Sailing right along in the process.  (Thank you sweet Jesus!)

Jan. 10, 2008---Met with Dr. Mitchell (WLS Surgeon) to discuss which type of surgery I was interested in as well as all other issues.  Had all my paperwork ready for him. (lots of work, but part of it)

Jan. 17, 2008---Met with Dr. Weiner, (Phys.) to have my Phys. Eval.
350 to 400 questions.  Woweeeeee!!!!    (Do I like Mechanics Mags.?)
Say what???  That was one the of questions.

Jan. 17, 2008---Attended the Education Class.  3:45-7:30
Overwhelming!!!  A lot of info to take in, but you have to know it.  I was impressed though and glad they took the time to cover everything very well. 

Well, I met Dr. Mitchell (12-10-07)and just as I was told, he is super!  I went to the information session and oh my Lord, they weighed me.  The weight thingy jiggy not only weighed me, it broke down how much of me was fat....oh boy and how much of me was other stuff.  All I can remember seeing was how much of me was fat!!  Lord....well...that is going to change.  I BELIEVE!!!!
Well I took my package home and started filling out everything, then I had to fill out a long registration form on line, which I did half that night and half the next night.  I called and set up a consulation.  Which can't be done until Jan. b/c they are backed up and the holidays put them a little behind as well.  So this coming week, I have an appt. with my regular doctor.  The week of Christmas I have an appt. with the Phys. they recommended.  Monday I am going to set up the sleep test appt. and the bone density test.  I have been working on getting my documented weight for the past 5 yrs.  I am posting all of this just in case there might be someone who is just reading to find out how it all works.  That's what I have done for the last year.  I started looking into this last November 2006.  So now that I have done my research, girl I am ready to go.  I am ready to get the old girl back!  I want to start a new beginning.  As Joel Osteen says, "Begin Again".  I have had some heartache this past year, regarding my  husband of 28 yrs. getting sick and finally losing him in 2006.  So, I need to take better care of myself.  I want to be around for my kids and my grandkids.  My parents died young and I don't want to.  So this is my first step to a healthier Sherry (Me)!  Not to mention that I am going to be a hot grandma!  (hehehehe)
