Hi everyone, my name is Sheila. I'm 43 yo, single mom to a very active 8yo boy. I currently weigh 235 and my ht is 5'9". I am planning lapband surgery as a self pay- BCBS will not pay without a BMI over 40%. I have been "big" my whole life- over 11lbs at birth, have huge feet- ladies size 12, and sometimes they dont fit. I have not weighed below 200lbs in at least 13 years. Truthfully , I do not remember when??? My post-op goal is 160-165 lbs. I want to be a comfortable size 10-12-  not looking for a size 0. I want to not grunt when I bend over to tie my shoes. I currently coach my son's basketball team- 10 7yo and 8yo boys and I feel like I need to take a nap after each practice or game. Some of it's age, but I know most of its my weight. I see Dr Roc Bauman on 1/8/07- already had my pre-op physical and labs- need clarification about the psych eval- my understanding is this is required for insurance purposes. Since we know I'm self-pay from the get go- would prefer to continue to see an established counselor who is a MSW, not psychiatrist or psychologist....I already recognize the need for continued counseling thru this journey- to deal with my feelings towards food, people's reaction to my wt loss and my own self image. I am so excited about this journey. I need your help/guidance/wisdom/ and prayers. I own a florist and if I had a magic wand, I would schedule my surgery for 2/16/07- 2 days after Valentine's Day- 1 day to rest and 1 day to begin the incredible change that WLS can promote.

Thanks for all your blogs/experiences and wisdom- it is already soooo appreciated!

Sheila
