I have been in this process for almost three years now. Originally I was in the bariatric program at Kaiser. After two frustrating years I got my big break, my employer announced that they will be offering an alternative health carrier. Immediately I switched coverage. I met with my former childhood physician and explained that I was two years into Kaiser’s program and would like to meet with a bariatric sergeant. I was referred to Dr. Zare’s office.
From the first phone call I could tell this was going to be different. What a relieve! He and his assistant have been so helpful! They have walked me through every single step individually (not like at Kaiser where everything was done is masses!) My first appointment with them was in late January/ early February and only three months later I am preparing for my surgery date! After struggling with my weight my whole life it’s amazing that I will be given this tool to control my weight. I’m looking forward to the change.
My husband has been so wonderful through this whole thing. He’s made so many eating adjustments with me even though he is not over weight. He says that it would be harder on me if I were the only one changing my habits and that doing it as a family will be a lot easier and benefit all of us. =D What an angle.
