Surgery Day Jan 30th and hospital time....

Feb 04, 2012

I had to be at the hospital at 3:30 in the morning. I went in feeling pretty good, excited! They took me in preop about 5 in the morning. That was when I started getting pretty nervous, changing into the gown, getting iv put in, asked a jillion questions by doctors and nurses. By 6 they were giving me my Shot glass, they called it, the pre meds to help me chill out and then I started crying all the way to the surgery room. They helped me get on the table, put a mask over my face and I was out within seconds. Woke up around 10 or so? I was in and out, the nurses were very concerned about my high blood pressure. I had never had hbp ever. I stayed in recovery for a while. Later on wheeled into my amazing, what looked like a condo of a room! But I was still in and out. My hubby, parents and aunt and uncle were waiting for me. A few hours later they are making me get up and walk!! Seriously, the hardest thing ever. lol I did it though. That night the nurses constantly were in and out, the leg compressions drove me nuts. I just wanted to sleep and not talk to anyone! Oh and I was sooo thirsty and all they gave me were these nasty lemon swaps to suck on.

Day 2 was a little better, I went for the Gastro swollow "leak" test at 7:30 am, that med was sooo nasty! I did pass the test, but threw up the med when I got back to my room. I dry heaved alot on Day 2, but only threw up once. The nausas meds worked great. I slept alot, but the stinking nurses kept bugging me to get up and walk, so I walked about 3 times that day. I was excited about apple and grape juice and water though!!

Day 3 I was much better, I got to go home that morning. My bl was still up a little. They gave me a bl pill, which I had never taken in my life, I had an allergic reaction! Had to take a benedryl when I got home and slept the rest of the day.

Day 3-6, having a hard time getting in all the liquids, sleeping 12 hours a night with a few potty breaks. Very weak and sore. Day 6 no nap in the day, incisions are healing well, looking forward to starting my meal replacement shakes tomorrow! There is hope and food cometh soon!!
