Gerald Kirshenbaum

"I was banded on 2/2/07 by Dr. Kishenbaum in Aurora, Colorado. I had an absolutely great experience. I live in NC, so I didn't meet Dr. K until the day before surgery. Prior to surgery, I had phone consult with Dr. K and the nutritionist. They entire staff has been open to answering any questions. My parents liked Dr. K right away. He came out to discuss surgery with them the day before and he spoke w/us all twice the day of surgery. Dr. K does really stress aftercare. Of course, you have the option to go back to him or find another doctor. He does discuss the risks of surgery. I would say his bedside manner and surgical competence were both equal. After surgery it took me a minute to even believe that I had surgery. His bedside manner was good. He wants to make sure you understand everything. And since I was staying an extra couple of days, he asked that I schedule a follow-up before I left. I was having some problems with shortness of breathe, so he did all the necessary tests. He was very efficient. My only complaint is more with the surgical center. The surgical center would tell me one thing and then Dr. K's office would say another. For example, how far ahead I should be there for surgery. All the nurses, etc prior to surgery were very nice, but after surgery, I felt a bit rushed. And I'm sure it is true that I slept a bit more than it felt like, but as soon as they said wake up. They were shoving my clothes on and sending me to meet my parents. When I got there, once again I felt rushed. I was kind of confused (I guess the anethesia)."
