Hmmm where to begin.
Well I have always been the overweight child with the cheeks everybody loved to pinch. Cute they always called me as they would pinch my cheeks.
In high school, I lost 30 pounds in 1 month after a mysterious illness would not let me even hold down water. I could not eat anything at all during that period of time. I was actually happy with my weight at that time which was about 140 pounds. After high school in 1991 I went back up to the 170's by partying my freshman year through college and going through a bad relationship in the next year to where I found myself binge drinking and eating out of control to just make it through the day because I was being drained emotionally, physically and financially. After that 2 year period leaving the partying and drinking behind I was motivated again to try to get my weight down by controlling how I ate. Around that time fast food resturants tried to help American's battle the bulge with the low fat meal craze. I joined that band wagon and several others such as Weight Watches, Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig. I also worked out like crazy almost living in the gym. Yo yo weight loss occurred for the next 4 years with my average weight being 175 lbs until March 1998 when I moved to NY. I gained 14 pounds in one month.
I got pregnant in April 1998 and my pre-pregnancy weight and delivery weigh never changed. I weighed 199 pounds. I did not gain weight during my pregnancy because I walked every single day for 2-3 hours on average due to lack of transportation. The next year was the death of my child's father - February 28, 1999. Everyone was so worried about me being depressed that they hovered around me 24/7. It seemed like every weekend involved dining out. I guess my family and friends figured that being out and in merry situtations would help me.
In 2000 I was diagnosed with Hypertension. By 2001 I struggled to stay awake in class as I started a crash course to finishing college. I went to school full-time and did work study part-time, plus cared for my child. To stay awake, I ate and drank moutain dews and cokes like water. Nothing worked and I was steadily gaining weight. Before I knew it I had ballooned to my all time height weight of 256 pounds. My doctor finally sent me for a sleep study and I was diagnosed with Severe Obstructive Sleep Apena and Narcolepsy.
Foward to 2006 I got my weight down to 223 lbs. I was working out and doing Weight Watchers once again. Then I changed careers and took a desk job. Also my narcolepsy was getting worse. To try to stay awake once again the soda habit and eating habit became my fix.
So here I am back at 256.
