Well, what can I say. I have been overweight all of my life and I have tried every diet imaginable to lose weight and have not been very successful. I have contemplated WLS for about 5 years and have always been afraid of what may happen because during the WLS craze, I was hearing so many horror stories, but keep in mind that was over 5 years ago and a lot of changes has been made to the way WLS are done.
So now here I am, finally deciding that I have had enough of being overweight, enough of getting tired of limited physical movement and I have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, severe lymphadema, high blood pressure and the latest one is sleep apnea. I am 39 years old and I need to change some things. I am about to hit the "prime" of my life and I want things to be much different for me. I especially don't want to be overweight.
I am having the lap gastric bypass WLS and I am very excited about it. I am even enjoying losing weight in the pre-diet stages, because I have set my mind to do what I have to do in order to become healthy and to feel better and most importantly to lose weight and rid of these co-morbitities.
I am blessed to say that I have a wonderful husband of 17 years and two beautiful teenage daughters. They all support me and are encouraging me so much. I love them more than words can say. My entire family including my in-laws and my church family and friends are so supportive of my decision to have surgery and that means so much to me.
I am thanking GOD in advance for blessing this whole process, from the pre-diet to the surgery to the post op. I pray that I won't have any complications and that I will heal well. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
I will keep you all posted as to my progress as I continue on this journey of the new "me".
