It has been a while!

Nov 29, 2009

Hello family,

I know it has been quite a while since I posted anything.  But things have been going really good for me.  I am 13 months post op and I have lost a total of 182 pounds since I started my weight loss journey in April 2008.  I am struggling to make a 200 pound weight loss, but I am extremely happy with the weight I have lost and all of my health and weight loss goals.

A lot has happened since I last posted.  My 9 year old granddaughter Kyriana (Chocolate) died in October from liver failure, my marriage is on the brinks of ending, and on a positive note, I just recently found permanent employment.

I have been reading you guys post and I am so excited for everyone who is still currently losing weight.  I have posted a couple of new pictures and will try my best to be more consistent with updating my page.  I truly miss doing this, but so much has been happening, yet that is still no excuse because I could post and read you guys posts which will help keep my motivated and on point.

Until next time, take care of yourself and happy weight loss!

Losing slower, but still losing...

Jun 02, 2009

Hello friends,

I know, I am pitiful lately when it comes to posting.  Well, just to do a quick update.  I have posted some new pics from this past Saturday.  My official weight this morning is 281.2.  This brings me to a total weight loss of 152 pounds.

Now, the kicker to that is that I only want to lose 21 more pounds.  This may seem strange and sound kind of strange, but I enjoy being a full figured woman.  I love the attention and I am pleased with my shape.  When I started this journey, I was wearing a size 32/34 and now I am in a solid 18.  My goal size is a 16 and my goal weight is 260.

I know that after plastic surgery, I will weigh less, but that will be ok too.  I hope all is well with everyone and I will talk with you all later.

Under 300 - Hooray!

Apr 24, 2009

Hello everyone,

It has been over 2 months since I last posted.  I am so sorry.  I have been working, working out, doing more at the church and getting ready for my daughters graduation activities.  It was so good to see you guys updated pictures and you all look wonderful.  Well, I am finally under 300 pounds.  As of today, I weight 298, which is great to me.  Last year this time, I was 420, so the tool is working.  Now with that said, I can do better.  I am a couple of days away from 6 months postop and I must admit, the eating has increased, however, I am working on exercising more and changing my eating habits.  I am currently wearing a size 20 and a 18/20 shirt.  My goal weight is 260 which means I still have 38 pounds to lose.  I am really trying to reach my goal.  Some of you may say, why 260.  Well, my structure is big, I am 5'8 and I have big feet, so I can't get too small or I will look sick.  I had to get some microbraids because my hair had thinned out so, but I am looking and feeling great.

I posted 2 pics, on with me, my sister and our god baby on Easter sunday and the other of my god baby.  I am going to take a few pics today of just me in some jeans and post those.

Well, I am back on track with posting blogs and pics.  Hope all is well with everyone and I will holla at yall later.

Still doing it...

Feb 18, 2009

Hello my OH Family,

I haven't written in over a month.  Well a lot has changed since then.  I have lost even more weight.  PRAISE GOD!  I have lost over 70 pounds since surgery, and I won't be 4 months post-op until 2/28.  I joined Curves and LOVE IT!  I still do the Leslie Sansone 3 mile walk tape everyday, but decided to add Curves to the equation to help out even more.  And lastly, I am back to work.  I have been off for 10 months and enjoyed every single last day of it.  I was receiving unemployment and still didn't want to go back, but what good is a degree if you don't use it.  So, I am officially back working as a Property Manager for a Senior Building with over 100 units.  Thanks to all of you guys for keeping me encouraged and uplifted.

Check out the new pics!

Much Love!

Today is my 40th Birthday!

Jan 12, 2009

Hey family,

Well today is a very special day for me.  It is my 40th birthday and I am excited as hell.  Most people don't tend to get excited about turning a year older, but as I look back over this year, I can't do nothing but cry and thank God for his many blessings.  I have lost a total of 88 pounds (the weight is falling off much faster than I thought) and I am feeling good and looking even better.  I enjoy all of the compliments from my family and friends and I am just basking in the joys of life that God has allowed me to see.  I am so much happier today than I was a year ago, and for 40, this Divine Diva looks Damn Good.

Until next time, you guys take care.

75 pounds down!

Jan 05, 2009

Hello everyone,

Well what can I say other than Thank GOD!  I went to see my surgeon for my 2 month appointment on Friday.  When I weighed in, the nurse said that I am officially 75 pounds down from when I weighed in at my first appointment on August 1, 08.  I felt like crying, because I was so happy to be getting rid of this excess weight.  I am not having any more problems with my side and I have beefed up my exercising and my protein.  You all know I keep my hair cut short, but I be dog gone if it ain't thinning out in the top.  Sister girl had to get a weave.  Well, that didn't bother me much, but I really hope that my hair hurries up and grows back fast.

I am going to post some new pics in a couple of days, but I am starting to see the weight loss within myself which is AWESOME.  Until next time.

Feeling MUCH better

Dec 18, 2008

Hey my OH family,

OK, your girl was under the weather for about 2 weeks with what I was originally told was a kidney infection.  Well, that changed to me just having major spasms on my left side.  After going to the ER twice, seeing my surgeon twice, and visiting 3 different primary care doctors (I have PPO, so you know a sister can go to several doctors), it has been confirmed that I am having muscle spasms.  The good thing is that they aren't related to the surgery, however, scar tissue could be the reason for the spasms.  I was finally given a prescription that helps with the spasms and given another prescription that helps with the pain.  I don't like taking all of this medicine, but a sister was hurting like hell.  They gave me Flexerill for the spasms and they really do work and Norco for the pain.  Luckily, they don't make me drowsy which is a blessing.  With taking the meds and settling my self down a lot, I am finally nearly back to normal.  I still can only exercise for a few minutes, but THANK GOD, I am still losing weight.  My stats are below.

April 12, 2008                433.0 pounds (when I decided I needed to change)
August 1, 2008              422.0 pounds  (1st appointment to see surgeon Dr. Rosen)
October 28, 2008          391.8 pounds  (day of surgery)
December 19, 2008     357.4 pounds

Total lost to date:           75.6 (from April)
Total since surgery:       34.4

I am so very proud of my accomplishments thus far and I praise GOD for all of his many blessings.

Love yall!

Happy Holidays

No kidney infection after all.......

Dec 09, 2008

Okay everybody,  I am a little upset.  I had to go back to the urgent care last night because of a lot of pain on my side.  When I arrived, they had me to take another urine analysis.  The same doctor told me that the infection wasn't clearing up.  This wasn't good news for me, as this was day 5 of the 10 day treatment.  He ordered a CT scan and determined that everything was ok with my adominal area and that he didn't see anything wrong with my kidneys, BUT continue to take the antiobiotic because my urine does show something.  Now I am confused.  I had an appointment already scheduled for today to go see my primary care doctor.  She reviewed everything and also determined that I don't have a kidney infection, but what I do have is severe muscle spasms on my left side.  This is what I thought all along.  She gave me a script for Norco and so far, the pain has subsided quite well.  Keep me prayed up yall, it has been a rough week.  Will keep you posted.

Kidney Infection

Dec 05, 2008

Hey everybody,

So... I wasn't feeling so great on Tuesday because my left side was hurting me so intensely, that I decided to tell my husband that I wanted to go to the urgent care on Wednesday when he got off from work.  When I arrived and they took my urine and drew some blood, it was determined that this Diva had a kidney infection.  You know the first thing that went through my mind was, oh no - this is related to my surgery.  However, thank GOD according to the doctor, it wasn't.  They gave me a IV with an antiobiotic and sent me home with an antibiotic.  I am feeling a little better, but it is only been 24 hours.  I am praying that I will feel better tomorrow and will continue to feel better so that I can get back on track.  I had just started to exercise and now this happens.  Keep a Diva prayed up yall, this pain ain't cool.

Till later!

Doctors Appointment 12/1/08

Dec 02, 2008

Hey Everybody,

I went to the doctor on Monday and everything went well.  I have lost a total of 55 pounds.  Hooray!  I even got the go ahead to begin exercising 3 days a week at 25 minutes each day and after 2 weeks, I can increase it to 4 days a week 30 minutes a day.  I am very happy about that because I think that I will be able to lose even more weight and gain some energy and endurance.  Both my energy and endurance is kind of low, so I am definitely looking forward to increasing them.  I need to of course pick up the protein.  I can't seem to get enough in, however, I have been trying to increase the amount of protein that I am taking in and watch what I am eating better.  I also went to see my primary care doctor on  yesterday and everything is going great with him as well.  He did give me a water pill and potassium that dissenigrates in water to take every other day to make sure that I am not holding water.  I am a little scared to take them because it is not like I am taking in a great deal of liguids during the course of the day and I don't want to start to get cramps in my legs and feet, however, I will try it today and see what happens.

Until next time, take care and keep it movin!

GOD BLESS!
