One Month Post Op Today - 11/28/08

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to all my friends,

Well guys, it has been 1 month since my surgery.  I am so thankful for not having any complications and I am thankful for being able to have the surgery.  Things have been going good.  I think that I overexerted myself on Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for Thanksgiving dinner, but it was nothing that the heating pad and little Ben-Gay couldn't handle.  My left side kinda towards my back was killing me.  I believe I had a muscle spasm.  Well getting to the nitty gritty.  I have lost since surgery 23.6 pounds and since my journey began on 8/1/08 53.8 pounds.  PRAISE GOD!  I am so excited and so anticipating the rest of the weight to fall off.  I haven't dumped yet!  PRAISE GOD!  Although I did find out that I can't eat eggs now, scrambled or boiled, they just don't like me.  I didn't and couldn't eat much for Thanksgiving, but I sure did cook a lot.  Well, I quess that it s all for me.  I do have some pictures to post which I will do later on today.  I really do see the weight loss in my face and my shoulders, I am not as wide as I was before.  PRAISE GOD!

Until next time I post, you guys take care and keep it movin!

Getting back to normal........

Nov 12, 2008

Hello all,

I just wanted to stop by and share that I am doing great, feeling great, and as of today looking great.  I was looking like a uga bugga up until today.  I went and had my eyebrows threaded and had my hair done today, so needless to say not only do I feel good, but I look good too.  My face is getting so much smaller and I am so happy.  My weight is coming off great.  I am actually 13 pounds lighter from surgery.  Praise GOD!

Last night I had a little trouble with a piece of meat going down.  I think it was all my fault that I didn't chew it well enough, but I managed.  However, it did make me feel pretty bad.

GOD is sooo good everybody and we would be foolish if we didn't give him the praise and honor that he deserves.  Often times I wonder why he keeps blessing me, but he is a forgiving GOD and a GOD of second plus chances.  Let's continue to lift him up and praise him for he is so worthy of it.

Until next time....

Love ya!

First Appointment - Thurs. Nov. 6

Nov 06, 2008

Hey everybody,

I had my first appointment yesterday and it went well.  I haven't lost that much in one week because of the swelling and water weight that I have, but I know when I return on 12/1/08, I will have lost much more weight.  However, I am down about 6 pounds since the day of surgery.

My surgeon said that the swelling in my legs is due to the fact that I had surgery and because of all of the liquids for the IV that are being contained in my body.  He did prescribe me a water pill and potassium pill to be taken for 5 days to rid myself of the excess water.

I also had my JP drain taken out today.  Hoorray!  Now I can try to get a full night of sleep without that thing sticking out of me.  It is true that each day does get better.  I am feeling much better and my mobility is a whole lot better.  Another great thing is that I am almost done with giving myself those heparin shots, so you guys know I am happy as hell.

The gas has passed and I am sooooo glad.  Well guys I will keep you posted.  I can't wait until Tuesday 11/11 so I can add more food to my diet, because a sistah is starting to get a little hungry.

Holla at you later!

My My My - The Gas!

Nov 03, 2008

Hey everybody,

I am recovering pretty well.  I had some serious bouts with some major gas since Saturday.  Even though I was walking and moving around, that gas was sounding like my stomach was thundering.  The most horrendous part was having major gas under my left breast and in my left shoulder.  You talking about somebody who thought they was having a heart attack, it was me.  I took some Gas-X strips and I sipped on some piping hot Celestial Seasonings Peppermint Tea.  Between the two of them, I was at least able to get some form of rest.  Monday was probably the best day I have had so far.  I took a nice long walk outside and the gas has pretty much subsided.  I go Friday to get the JP drain taken out.  Is this going to hurt?  I hope not.

Well that is it for now.  I will keep you guys posted.

Much love and continued weight loss success!

Yeah!!! I was blessed - home from surgery!

Nov 01, 2008

Hello All,

My surgery was a success.  It went really well.  I had to stay in the hospital for 3 days and the bed was sooooo very uncomfortable, but I know I wasn't at the Hilton.  Since I have been home I have been agonizing over the heparin shots because they do hurt going in the body.  I have an appointment with the surgeon on Friday for my 1 week checkup.  I am hopeful and prayerful that everything will be fine.  I have not weighed in since I got home yesterday because I was almost 10 pounds heavier.  I do realize that most of that is the gas from the surgery and the water weight.  I am not as excited as I was before the surgery because I have to get past the "recovery" stage.  I am however very grateful and thankful to GOD for showing up and showing out in my life and I continue to pray that my recovery will be well and fast so I can get on with losing weight and becoming healhier.  Thanks to all of you guys for your help and support and please continue to pray for my continued successful recovery.  Also, a special thanks to DTray and his wife for coming to visit me in the hospital.  Much Love!

It's Time..... Surgery is tomorrow at 7 a.m.

Oct 27, 2008

Hey my buddies,

Well, I am here.  It is time for me to start my new life journey as a smaller healther woman.  My surgery time was pushed up to 7 a.m. from 7:30 a.m. and I have to be at the hospital at 5 a.m.  I must admit this morning I was going through a thang yall.  I was nervous and somewhat scared.  I went to see my great aunt "Aunt Bea" who I care for.  She is 87 years old and she really broke down today crying because she is so scared and concerned for me.  This sent me into a thang, but when I came home and after I drank my citrus magnesium (that stuff is NASTY!), I played some of my favorite gospel songs (Chicago Mass, God Is My Everything, and Jesus Promised and He's Able by Detrick Haddon and Darwin Hobbs), I prayed out to GOD and thanked HIM in advance for meeting me at the hospital and taking over the surgery.  Now I feel great.  I am excited about surgery and can't wait until I wake up in recovery.  I have been anticipating this day since August 1st, and it has finally arrived.  Praise God.

I just loaded some pictures from yesterday and I will have some pictures and a blog ready for Friday.  Thanks to all of you all who have prayed for me and I will talk to you guys on Friday.

5 days before surgery; getting a little nervous

Oct 23, 2008

Hey everybody,

I am getting so close to surgery and would you believe my nervous has kicked into overdrive.  I have completed everything including registering with the hospital.  I even have my bag packed, so I am ready except for mentally, I am getting nervous.  I am sure that this is probably normal and yes, I have been praying and I know that fear and faith can't share the same space.  I am just asking all of my prayer warrior friends to keep me prayed up and know in advance that I appreciate each and everyone of you all.

Thank Yall for your support - it did get better!

Oct 20, 2008

Hey everybody,

Thank you all for the support you have shown me during my hungry, need something to eat, going to eat it stage that I went through.  You guys were right, I picked myself up, dusted my dumb butt off and jumped back on the band wagon.

Since starting my 14 day liquid diet 7 days ago, I have lost 15.2 pounds (probably could have been over 16 pounds, but hungry as$$$% had to have something to eat) and I am totally ready for surgery.

It has gotten to the point with the liquid diet that I almost have to make myself eat, because I am not hungry.  I wonder why I didn't try this first before considering surgery?  Oh well, it might not have lasted long anyway.

Again, thank yall.  I only have 7 more days to go.

Talk with you guys later!

I messed up big time!

Oct 17, 2008

O.K. everybody, I have been on the liquid diet for 4 days and I have lost 9.6 pounds.  Hoorray!  However, I cheated today - what a shame!.  I am soooooo pitiful, however, I spoke with my nut and she said just pick up where I started from and DON'T CHEAT AGAIN during this fast.

Please, Please, everybody send one up for me.  This liquid protein thing is killing me.  I know it is what to come after surgery, but today I guess the devil got into me, because I just couldn't do it.

I am going to take a laxative tonight and flush it out.  I had fried catfish, shrimp, french fries and coleslaw.  I will only be doing liquids over the next 10 days before surgery, and I am going to do only clear liquids 2 days before surgery as well to make up for my BIG MISTAKE!

I am feeling so bad right now I can scream.

1st day of liquid diet......... HARD AS HELL!

Oct 14, 2008

Hey everybody, yesterday was my first day for the liquid diet.  I thought I was dying.  Why is it that your mind plays tricks on you when it knows you are trying to accomplish a goal.  I decided to do the Medifast plan along with some chicken and beef broth for my liquid diet.  For starters Medifast SUCKS!  The chocolate shake is o.k., but the orange creme is horrible.  Secondly, my silly behind decided to watch the Food Network yesterday like a fool and made myself even hungrier.  I had a terrible headache for the majority of the day and I was told by my nut that I would probably feel this way for the first 2 - 3 days, but afterwards I would be o.k.  I really do believe she is a nut, if she believes that herself.  The good thing is, if you think about it, I will only be doing the fast for 13 days because they had me start on 10/14 instead of 10/13 and my surgery is 10/28.  Therefore, I technically only have 12 more days of this crap.

Well until next time, please pray my strength for these next 12 days.  I know that it wont be this hard after surgery because at least I can have just a little more variety than I can have now.  Thanks for listening.
