Two Days Before Surgery

May 06, 2011

I have lost 14.5 lbs as of yesterday, May 6, 2011.  I have not weighed in this am.  I am spending my weekend in San Antonio with my family before Surgery.  My daughter lives in San Antonio and my son is due to fly in from Georgia today.  We will be floating the river today, then take a walk on the river walk, see a Comedy show and last of all play another Texas Hold'em tonight.  We all had a blast last night.  We went to Longhorn's Restaurant and everyone was eating Rib eye's and Lobster, ect....I ordered French Onion without the Cheese and Breadcrumbs in it.  I just had the broth.  I was amazing.  I have accepted the point that it doesn't bother me for anyone to eat in front of me.  This journey is awesome!  I know this is forever and came to realize this.  I really feel that after doing this liquid diet that I can truly eat in small portions and enjoy it for the nutritional value.  I do not have any fear; just anxiety.  I will let all of you know how every thing goes after surgery.  Good luck to all of you that are in this Journey as well!

Love,
Sandra

Day # 3 of Liquid Shakes Pre-Op

Apr 21, 2011

I say Day # 3, but really the first day I had my first shake for Dinner, 4/19/11.  Then my full day of shakes took place on 4/20/11; I was kinda depressed and did not want to wake up on 4/20/11; but reality set in and I knew I had to.  I had the feeling of just wanting to sleep for the next 2 weeks and 4 days until Surgery.  I went over to my sister's house because I took of my first day of doing the Shakes and my mom came over to her house to support me the day of picking up my shakes on 4/19/11 and 4/20/11 full day of shakes.  I managed, but I did have a headache all day.  I do not like the taste at all, but I was not hungry.  I am lactose intolerant, so I only had one shake with 1 % Milk at night time.  Otherwise, I was only able to drink 3 1/2 shakes on my first full day.  I used water with the other 2 1/2 shakes.  Today, 4/21/11 Wednesday, it is now 1:06 and I have had 1 1/2 shakes so far.  I am still not hungry. I have been chewing on sugarless gum - Dentyne Fire spicy Cinnamon to get the taste of the shake out of my mouth.  It really helps alot.  I will be making some sugarless Jello and I bought some sugarless Popsicles too; so I will try to enjoy that this evening.  It is hard to get in extra water, but I have to do this.  I have checked my blood sugar everyday a couple times a day and it has been under control, so I have not taken my Diabetic medicine; not sure if I should stop it because I am afraid of it going lower.  I weighed in at 245.5 on 4/19/11 and weighed myself this morning and weighed 238.  That is (8.5 lbs lost already-Wow!  Keep me in your prayers.  I can do this!  :)

Picked Up My Shakes for Liquid Diet 4-19-11

Apr 20, 2011

Two days before picking up my Shakes, I was very nervous and anxious.  My sister and my mom took me to Olive Garden for my last Lunch and it was AWESOME!!!

We had to watch a video and pick up our perscription of liquid Vicodin.  They advised me that we can start our liquid diet in the AM 4-20-11; however, I choose to start at dinner on 4-19-11.  I sat at the dinner table with my Sister, her husband, my Mom and had my Chocolate Shake while they enjoyed Pork Chops, Squash, Asparagus and Beets.  I mixed my chocolate shake with water.  I used cold water, but after trying it I had to add some ice cubes and it was better the colder it was.

Thereafter, I managed to wait 45 minutes before drinking any water.  Yeah!  I think the very 1st week is going to be really hard.  It will all be worth it!  I am so excited!  Not about drinking the Shakes; but this is part of the journey to get my ultimate goal.

My sister let me use her Bullet and another kind of mixer.

Tomorrow I am off of work also.  I will be shopping for my vitamins and sugar free Jello and sugar free Popsicles.  Then I will be going to work on Thursday, May 21, 2011.

The cost of 4 tubes of 2lbs Chocolate Shake was $260.00.  This will be enough to last me the 2 weeks and 4 days before surgery and for a few days after surgery.

I weighed in at 145.5 today.  I gained 4.5 lbs in two weeks because I had to eat all of my favorite foods one last time time.  Ouch!

I was so proud of myself to be able to sit at the dinner table my very first Shake while everyone was eating a normal meal!  I know I can do this.  I just need to keep my eye on the prize!

First Post March 25, 2011

Mar 25, 2011

A good friend of mine told me about this website and it has inspired me so much.  I just got on line to this website earlier today and was so excited to set my page up and to share my story and the start of my new journey.  I just got approved for surgery yesterday, March 24, 2011.  I will be having surgery on May 9, 2011.  I currently have had 5 1/2 weeks without any carbonated beverages.  I was a Diet Pepsi, Diet Coke and Diet Root Beer drinker.  I had to have my diet sodas everyday with lemon.  This has been a great accomplishment for me.  The first week was very hard, but after that it was not difficult.  Instead I am drinking Ice Tea and Water, Water and Water.  I have tried to work on not drinking anything 30 min before I eat and waiting 30 min after eating----this on the other hand is very difficult and started trying to do this since March 10, 2011 and not able to master this.  I have only made it through one meal since this date.  It is also harder than giving up soda for me.  I am excited to browse around this website more and look at more of many, many, many success stories.  You all have motivated me and inspired me more than you will ever know.  I hope one day I can inspire and touch someones life like many of you have for me in just one day.
