 I am steadily losing weight, though it is slower than most folks on here.  I can tell the difference in my face and my clothes.  I started at a tight 22 (refused to buy 24 but needed to!) and am wearing my 20's quite comfortably.  I also am ready to give my 2X uniforms away and am wearing my XL that I've had for a few years.  I feel great!  The first few weeks when I started on solids (soft foods) it was difficult to know how much you REALLY need to chew and I threw up a few times .  It is nothing like vomiting pre op.  There's no gut wrenching, toe curling hurl...you just "get rid of it".  You'll know when you aren't going to keep something down because you get a sharp, wavelike pain in your stomach and you keep swallowing saliva.  Eventually you learn that when it happens it's just better to hurl then to try and keep from hurling.  I haven't done that since the second week though and tolerate absolutely everything now.  It's a learning process and I am reading as much as I can.

 I think I had a whopping 2 hours of sleep last night....still nervous with lots of things floating in my head.  I can't believe the day is actually here!  What am I doing to myself??  My fear of pain, nausea, and not waking up have got the better of me tonight.  I'm still pushing through it though.  This NPO (nothing by mouth)  breath is killing me so I can only imagine what the nurses will think :)  I will post when I'm home or if I feel up to it in the hospital.  Thanks to the few of you that took time to wish me well!!

 I am 38, married, and have 2 children, 2 dogs, and 3 cats.  I am an RN in the Emergency Room.  I, like most others, have had an up and down weight history.  I didn't always have a weight problem.  It started in my mid 20's when I was going to school and juggling 2 jobs.  Poor food choices and lack of exercise.  I have dieted and regained many times and finally in June I had enough.  I began my journey.  I have just got approval from my insurance after 6 months of tests/meetings.  I am having laparoscopic RNY.
