150 pounds gone!

Mar 14, 2010

Hey, I am doing it!  I have lost 150 pounds today!  My anniversary date is coming up, 1 year on March 23.  I can't believe the changes in my body and how I feel.  It is amazing.  I never new thin people could feel their butt bones and tail bone, and knee bones when laying on their side.  Too funny.  Well, I'll write more on the 23rd.

I'm doing it!

Jan 30, 2010

It's been awhile since I did a blog.  But, I just weighed myself and I am now down to 219 pounds.  My main goal was to get below 200 and I am almost there.  I am so excited, I am shaking.

It's amazing the things I can do now that I haven't been able to do in the past.  A big one is bending over in the car and picking up something off the floor!  i use to have to get out of the car to get whatever it was I wanted that was on the floor.  So, that's cool.  Then, I took my first tub bath in YEARS the other day.  I bought some nice smelling bath bubbles, lit a camera, and EASILY sat down and just enjoyed the feeling of having room in the tub and knowing I would easily get out again, and I did.  So that was cool. And another things, this is sort of weird, but, when sitting on a hard chair, I can feel my but bones and tail bone, and my tail bone sort of hurts.  I was worried I had bone cancer or something and my Doctor laughted saying that I don't have all that cushioning there now and my tail bone is just not use to the pressure, that I am fine.  Isn't that a hoot?  I can easily clip my toe nails, and just putting on socks is amazingly easy, I can just stand and do it or sit and bring one leg up and put on the sock and then the other.  Before, I had to sit on the sofa, turn to the left, and put my knee up on the edge of the couch and put the one sock on, then rotate and do the same on the next foot.  Same as putting on shoes!  I was getting to the point where I didn't even want to walk into stores or to the post office because it was getting so hard to walk, but now, i jump in and out of the car and no problem. I stillt think, oh, I don't want to do that, but then I remember it's not difficult any more.  I am actually wanting to go snowshoeing, that is something I NEVER thought I'd like to do, and I really want to this year.  My goal is to be in good enough shape by next winter to do the snowshoe walk around Fayette for their annual lantern night walk.  Too far this year, but, if I am shape I am for sure doing it next year.
I am also noticing that I am more interested in getting together with people and more confident in myself, which is wonderful.  I am sure there are many more things but, this is all for now.  It has been 101/2 months since my surgery and I have lost 138 pounds.  I have went from a size 32 pair of dress pants, down to a size 18 from Maurices, not even a womens size!  I am in a size 9 in undies and was in a 12!  I was a C cup, and now am  in a B and can by cute little bras and undies now.  I know-too much info.  But hey,Yippie for me.

6 month post surgery

Sep 23, 2009

March 23, 2009 was my surgery date!  Exactly six months later have lost a total of 97 pounds. (I had dropped 14 pounds just prior to surgery).  It is hard to believe I really have lost that much weight in such a short time.  I had hoped to lose at least 60 pounds in 6 months, so I more than exceeded my own goal; I'm so proud of myself.  I have had the great pleasure of donating a lot of clothes to St. Vincent's as of course they were way to big.  And even better, I have shopped at St. Vincents and Goodwill for jeans and dress pants.  It's the first time I have ever been able to buy pants at these places and have them fit.  Was in a size 28, sometimes a 30 even just before surgery!  (that is when I new it was time for surgery!)  Now I have pants in sizes 20 and 22! That is just amazing to me.  I haven't been in that size since I was in junior high school I think.
I am still sort of tired and occassionally weak feeling because I am protein deficient.  My doctor told me I absolutely needed to be eatting more of the protein whey.  I have been doing that for the last week now.  Hopefully I will be feeling stronger soon.  Thank God for Dr. English and for Marquette General Hospital for bringing this weight loss surgery to the UP.

2nd weigh in

May 05, 2009

Well, I am down a total of 30 pounds in six weeks.  I am pretty happy with that.  It is hard to believe I will be able to keep losing and not mess things up and regain it or stop losing.  I am so happy I had this surgery, it will be fun to watch the weight come off over the next few months.

First Weigh In

Apr 11, 2009

My surgery was March 23 and at my two week visit to the doctor I had a 17 pound weight loss.  I was excited.  I am on my way.  I now get to start trying a few new foods, I tried sugar free pudding and sugar free fudgecicles but they did not agree with me.  The nutrionist said there are sugar alcohols in these foods and some people can't tolerate them so close out of sugrery.  Too bad, they tasted good, but will wait a few months before I try them again.  Other than that everything has been going just great!

Surgery Date Scheduled

Mar 05, 2009

Today I finally received the call I have been waiting for!  My surgery date has been set for March 23, 2009.  Only 2 weeks and 2 days away.  I am so excited I had to call all my friends and family and share the news.  I already called and made arrangements to take my dog Gussy to the Kennel!  I have to be on a high protein diet a week before surgery so I made a list of things to buy.  Plus I need to make a list of things to buy for after surgery.  I've been waiting for so long and now it is so close.

Last night I was so depressed about being overweight and tired all the time and not feeling like doing anything and this call has helped me to feel that help is on the way!  I am excited, yet nervous with all the new eatting routines I'll have to follow but am positive I can make the adjustment with the help of my surgery team, friends, and family.
