My first year since surgery is almost here.

Jan 11, 2008

April 13th will mark my first anniversary since my weight loss surgery and I have lost 120.8 pounds.
On February 26th, I had surgery to replace my right hip.
Dr. Heap (my bariatric surgeon) was very worried about my iron count and my clotting time when I called and told him about the hip surgery.  He had me get special blood work-up and a blood clotting test to make sure everything would go well (he's so good to his patients).  But my iron count was well within normal parameters and my clotting test didn't show any abnormalities.
The hip surgery went very well and I was out of the hospital two days later.  My recovery has gone well, but I can't imagine doing this at my old weight.  There is no way I could have done all of the exercise (2-3 hours a day) for physical therapy weighing my old weight!
Although my goal was to loose another 18.2 pounds by my first anniversary, I'm not too worried.  Besides, my General Practitioner told me I have almost that much in loose skin.  I guess there be some plastic surgery is in my distant future.
For now I feel fantastic and am loving life so much it's incredible and the best I felt in years!
