Almost 2 weeks post-op

Mar 14, 2011

Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since I was sleeved, and Thursday, I go to the dr/nut for my 2 week follow up.  With my program, I have specialized protein products to use during this 2 weeks, but  I have to admit, after reading so many posts by others, I added in a cup of skim milk with Unjury as my breakfast.  I can have Unjury, but found it gross when made with water.  By adding the milk to the Unjury, I have more protein and more calories in a day.  Prior to that, I was only getting, at the most, 300 calories.  It took all I had to take a shower.  That is the only change I have made to my program, so I think I'm safe.  I cannot wait for my 2 week visit and get advanced to some real food.  I never thought I would look forward to cottage cheese and yogurt!!  Thankfully, I like greek yogurt since it's higher in protein.  I also get refried beans, which will be nice!!  I am also starting a new job on Wednesday.  I'm only working four hours Wednesday and Friday, with Thursday off for my appointments.  Depending how I feel after the weekend, I may start off working 4-6 hours, or if I feel up to it, I will go straight to 8 hours.  My vacation time from my old job is just about out, so I need to get some income coming in anyhow.  My doctor said I should be able to go back to work after 2 weeks, as long as I can drink water at all times.  My new employer has no problem with that, at all.  It's a desk job, so that will be nice.  Today will be my first real outting since surgery.  I'm going up to my old employer to see my friends there.  I went to church yesterday, which was nice, but it's literally a minute from my house and I sat the entire time.  If I still have energy after visiting, I'm going to stop at a little dollar store and pick up some things. It's sunny and going to be in the high 30's/low 40's, so a good day to get out!!!

New Beginnings

Mar 09, 2011

I had my sleeve done one week ago today on Wednesday, March 2, 1011. I came home on Friday, spent the weekend at my parents' house (which was a blessing as I have 3 kids, 5 dogs and 2 cats!!), and then finally to my own home Sunday evening.  I am amazed at how little pain was involved, and only a little discomfort.  The only complaint I have is being weak and tired.  I'm assuming it's from the lack of calories and normal post-op recovery.  I am so excited for my future!!  The ability to enjoy food without being a slave to it!!  I have to admit I'm having some issues right now with the liquid only diet for 2 weeks post op.  I completely understand the reasoning and have no plans to do deviate from the plan, however, I crave flavor and chewing (I am NOT hungry).  I totally take advantage of being able to "eat" sugar free jello.  I have never looked forward to cottage cheese and yogurt so much in my entire life.

I believe I can feel the weight falling off already.  This is so exciting!!  My mom had the RNY in September 2010 and she has been invaluable in my process!!  It's awesome to watch her meet her goals and she looks great!!
