Initial Consult: highly informative, Dr. Pomp makes sure to explain all the options available. He went over everything and made detailed diagrams. He focused his explanations not just to me, the patient, but also to my husband. He appreciates individuals that come prepared with significant background knowledge and he is more willing to give you a surgery that you want if he feels that you can handle the lifelong reprecussions of this surgery.
Follow consults; All great, he addressed all my questions and concerns. I never felt rushed. He takes his time and I appreciate that in a doctor.
Surgery: He performs out of New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell, the hospital is as top of the line as you can get so you have nothing to worry about regarding facility. Everything is top notch there. My surgery went smoothly, he was there pre-op, post-op and visited me 2 times a day for the first few days and then once daily there after. He also has a team of residents that will visit you daily. This is a TEACHING hospital so please be prepared for 6-7 residents visiting you in teams daily to check on you and on your incisions..... they are future doctors so please help them learn. The nurses were great, actually, they were probably the best i have experienced out of any hospital i have been to and i have had 4 surgeries before this one. They checked on me often, they provided medication within 15 min and they made me feel comfortable.
Overall, so far, i have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with Dr. Pomp, the hospital and his staff. I wish Dr.Pomp would be more readily available by email, but he is available by phone or his PA is so i can not really hold the lack of email response against him.
My follow up care post op is just starting and will last for as long as i live so this review may change over time. However, he is a highly skilled surgeon and i trusted my life to him in the 5 hours i was on his operating table, so he did his part and he did it beautifully. "
