I am editing this because as I read everyone's profile I realize I like to have a good history!
I am 36 years old, 5'6" and my weight maxed out at 268. I have lost a few pounds prior to my surgery date. I am happily married and I have one daughter. Both my husband and daughter can eat pretty much anything. Me? I have been steadily packing on the pounds since 2001 and I have been at my present weight, give or take 10 lbs., since the latter part of 2004. I had thyroid cancer...was diagnosed and had thyroidectomy in September of 2004. Truthfully, I have battled my weight my whole life. I popped out a healthy 10 lbs and I have been some form of chunky ever since. I lost my mom at age 7, so it was pretty much Cokes and hot dogs after that. I lost weight a few times and maintained for a little while, but never ever actually reached my goal. Looking back now I should have been happy...I think I was a size 7 in 1994 - 1995.
I have PCOS (Poly Cystic Overian Syndrome), which doesn't help. I have finally come to the conclusion that WLS is for me. I am both excited and scared. I have less than supportive people in my life that I know want what's best for me and are afraid of the complications.
