After years of being frustrated with my body weight, I decided to look into bariatric surgery. Upon countless hours of research, I chose the lapband which I didn't even knew existed at the start of my journey. I went to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital's seminar in October of 2006, which is a basic introduction of procedure. I submitted my application to start the process a few months later because of cold feet. I have met with a physical doctor, pshycologist, physical therapist, nutritionist, have taken lab blood tests, and pshycological written tests. I was ready to get the show on the road. The nutritionist and PT had different ideas. I needed to drop the pounds so they could see that I was making lifestyle changes before they would refer me to the surgeon. Slowly, I started making changes. I was referred to the surgeon. I watched a film on bariatric surgery. I met with the surgery staff and they were optimistic. They told me that I needed to lose more weight before surgery. I went to the very last pre-operation class people take before surgery. I was the only one in the class that was NOT scheduled for surgery because I still needed to lose the weight. I dieted strictly at first, then began to struggle. At my next appointment with the surgeon, I did'nt lose enough weight. I have gone to A LOT of support groups and am very thankful for the help provided. I have redirected my weight loss goals and have been on track since the new year. I take advantage of walking partners and suggestions of food control. I finally realize it is a lifestyle change. Although I still struggle, I am working on a goal that I now know is achievable. My next appointment to meet with the surgeon is February 14th, 2008. Say a prayer and wish me luck, --- I'm on my way!!! **--Love, Peace & Kisses-- Heather**
