I am 33 years old and currently overweight.  I have always been a few pounds overweight growing up.  I grew up in a small town in North Alabama.   I moved to Texas when I was 16.  Got pregnant with my first child when I was 17 had him shortly after I turned 18.  Got married and 3 months later got pregnant with my twin girls when I was 18 and had them shortly after turning 19.  They all three are the same age 2 days out of the year.  I gained 30 pounds with my son and 50 pounds with my girls.  After 10 years being in a not so good marriage, I had also gained a few more pounds.  I divorced and went on the "divorced diet" and excercised and only lost 35 pounds.   I then met my current husband who is just an angel from heaven.  We have been married for almost 2 and 4 months today.  I was 215 when I met him and now I am at a whopping 280.  It varies from 280 to 286 on a bad day.  I have been up to 290.  I feel awful.  My back is killing me,  my insulin levels are high, and I just feel awful!!  My now  teenage kids are embarresed of me, and I have tried many diets to get me started and it just doesnt seem to work for me.  So now I am on my journey to have the Lap band surgery.  I went through all the testing in Nov. 07 hoping the insurance would approve me and have it done in Dec around Christmas break, but the insurance (United Healthcare) would only approve it for gastric bypass surgery.  My husbands insurance is great, but his job had an exclusion to anything but the Bypass. "Go figure"!  So we appealed and it came back again and was not approved.  So by this time I had gone through the testing and etc...  was extremly excited to have this surgery and then It was over like that.   I think my husband was tired of fighting with the insurance and his work.  So now we are paying for the surgery ourselves.   Well, financing.  I went Tuesday the 26th to set my date up with my care coordinator that has had this procedure done herself three years ago, and  Now I came down with the flu. Strains A and B. Now I have my pre op testing to do this Friday.  I just hope that I get over this mess soon.  I have never had the flu.    My optifast came yesterday ( 3/29) and I start that  This Tuesday (3/04) In a way I am very excited, but at the same time I am very nervous.   I will keep updates as to how my progress is going.
