You can tell I am bored

Jan 23, 2009

Work is so slow tonight.  Trying to keep busy. Can't get into the book I brought with me.  I meant to bring another one with me.  Grr.  The boards are typically slow on Friday night, so I resorted to updating my profile.  I am not sure if anyone actually reads these things.  If you do, let me know so I know I updated this for a reason.

Feeling much better since my hospitalization a couple of weeks ago.  Heart seems to be almost normal.  Doc's not worried, so neither am I.

Gotta get home and get some sleep so I can go do one of my favorite things in the world.  Rangers Fanfest.  Baseball season is coming.

1. How far out are YOU 10 days shy of one year
2. Do YOU still do protein shakes Never did.  I used Atkins Advantage for about 3 months.
3. What is YOUR favorite food now AFTER surgery I am disappointed in myself because I have not hand any in the house in a couple of months, but I love ground turkey - turkey meatballs especially.
4. What food cant YOU do now since surgery I really don't have any problem eating anything because of my WLS.  My problem is my dentures.  Makes eating shrimp tough.
5. Do YOU dump No
Do YOU get the slimies- (banders) If it is the same as foamies, yes, but it is always my fault because of how fast I ate, or if I did not chew enough
How many calories do YOU need daily (DS/VS)
6. How many times a year do YOU get labs
I did it at 6 months.  Mary and I were just discussing yesterday that we needed to do it again.
7. Are YOU still "windy" lol No, the dog did it.
8. Does YOUR pouch still sound like an alien is coming out?Never had a problem with that.
9. Do YOU still find YOURSELF feeling YOUR bones Every day I am amazed at how I can feel my collarbone.
10. Have YOU had any complications since YOUR surgery Just minor stuff.  Nothing big for me.

I just wanted to make sure I had it readily available when responding to newbies on the board.  JodieBlonde posted it and was asked by several people to make sure she put it in her profile.  She really gets it.

In 96 hours I'll be headed to the hospital for my WLS.  Because of YOU I know ....

1.  It won't be a walk in the park.
2.  If I feel great 2 or 3 days later, that's natural
3.  If I feel like I've been hit by a bus 2 or 3 days later, that's natural
4.  That I must sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk, rest, sip, rest, sip, sip, sip and repeat the process.
5.  That if I don't do step #4, dehydration will likely set in and a visit to the hospital required (I don't think this one will be an issue - my father died in December from extreme complications due to dehydration after chemotheraphy)
6.  That I will wake up and wonder "what have I done to myself?", that's natural
7.  That no matter what time of day or night, there is someone on the TMB browsing and posting information - the good, the bad and the ugly.
8.  TMB has the BEST cheerleaders
9.  If I slip up and make wrong choices on occasion, it will be OK that I haven't ruined my sleeve
10.  I will be able to eat at my favorite restaurants AND have leftovers for lunch the next day!!
11.  Don't get on the scales every single day. (WooHoo for the day - for the first time in my married life I weigh less than my husband this morning!)
12.  I have a pretty good idea of what the "don't take another bite" feeling will be.
13.  I know that if I want to keep my hair on my head, don't cheat myself out of protein.
14.  Protein FIRST, veggies second and then if there's room - a little something extra!
15.  That you'll all be here whenever I need a shoulder to cry on or someone to celebrate with - YOU will be here and I THANK YOU so very much for that comforting thought.

And most of all because of
YOU - I AM READY ....... for the first day of the rest of my life.

6 Months out - is anyone really reading this?

Jun 14, 2008

Six months and one day out.  7 lbs from goal as of today.  Just 7 lbs.  I find it all so unbelieveable.

Doctor's appt Monday for 6 month check up.  Already did my labs.  All came back good. No problems at all.

I have a minor problem with stomach discomfort, but it is a small price to pay.  The doc thinks it might be an ulcer.  I really need to get it checked out.

Wow!

May 06, 2008

Here it is May 6th.  I am down to 242.  I have my dentures.  I smile again.  I love living life.  I have problems, but who doesn't.

I went to the RYD Conference this weekend and feel rejuvenated.  Life is wonderful.  I am in a good place in my life.

Here I am again.... teacher insisted

Per Tanya's question, I am updating today.  I must admit, I am not one for reading profiles.  I just don't do it. I would rather float around the board and site.

It is now March 2nd, and yesterday I weighed 277.  I have not seen that in ages.  Probably 10 years or more.  I was 221 in 1991 when I got out the Air Force.  That is why that was chosen as my goal.

This week I go for my final exam before dentures.  Don't know when I will get them, but it will be real soon.

Still more progress

Jan 25, 2008

Here it is 1/25 and I am still going in the right direction.  I am under 300, actually 295.5 today.  Wow!  64.5 lbs in less than 2 months.  I wouldn't believe it if it wasn't me.

Eating good lately.  Really, since I have been permitted to eat.  Yesterday had steak at Bennigans.  I am not sure if I will go the steak route again for a while.  It sat a little heavy, but still was not a problem.  I had Rainbow Trout at Red Lobster the other night.  That was great.

It was nice to go to the hockey game last night and not feel crushed in my seat.

Been doing a lot of reading on OH TMB.  I started a thread called THE NIGHT WATCHMAN, because I am up all night.  I did it to sort of ease the load on David for prayer requests.  We can both publish lists, if someone appears on both, so be it.  Double prayers never hurt anyone.  I also use it as a place for people to drop in and say goodnight when they are logging off the computer.  And, I try to carry on conversations from work with anyone who wants.  I can't use chat at work, but I can use the discussion board.

So far so good 1/15

Jan 14, 2008

I was down to 301.5  today.  I am getting close to that 300 mark.  I can't tell you when the last time I weighed less than 300 was.

Ate out at Chili's Sunday night.  Monterrey Chicken and Lime Seasoned Shrimp.  The chicken was fine, but the shrimp too a lot of chewing.  And still really wasn't ready to be swallowed.  But I did get plenty to eat for the next couple of days.

Next week we are going to Red Lobster.  I will have fish instead of shrimp.

Doing fine without protein supplements.  Using Atkins Advantage, 2 cans every night (30 gms protein).

Also, still doing decent with the water.  Drink 3 seventeen oz bottles a day.

It has been a while since I updated this

Jan 03, 2008

It has been a wonderful ride.  I ended up losing 20+ pounds before the surgery.  I weighed 334 on the morning of the surgery.  I have lost another 32 lbs since then.  I am down to 308 as I type this.  I am so amazed.  According to Mary, I have stopped snoring.  Also, when I walk up the stairs at work, my knees no longer are killing me when I reach the top.

Foodwise, I am eating a bunch of stuff.  I stopped the protein supplement because I am eating so much protein.  I have been having a turkey omelot for breakfast every morning (1 egg).  Then I have been having turkey or chicken for lunch and supper every day.  I am the type of guy who does not get sick of eating the same thing everyday.  This weekend I will be trying beef for the first time.  So far my favorite is the shrimp I put through the Bullet with a tablespoon and a half of marinara sauce.

I am so thankful that I have had this surgery.  And this is just the beginning.

Dec 06, 2007

I don't know if anyone really reads this stuff, but it has been a pretty good week.  Went to the doc for weigh in to make sure the liquid diet is working.  All systems are go.  I have stuck pretty good to the liquid diet.  I have cheated two times, but it was so minimal.  Twice, I ate one inch off a slice of Swiss Cheese.  I LOVE Swiss Cheese.  Anyway, I have lost 22 lbs as of yesterday (12/6).

I weighed myself when I first started this diet and weighed 359.5,  Yesterday I was 337.5.  That is remarkable in itself.
