Are you kidding me lady, did you really just say that???

Most of you I don't know, however to know me is to love me, my big mouth and all.  I had a check up with my surgeon's office this afternoon and just had to re-tell my story.  I was walking into the office where he makes us go for up to 5 years after our surgery so all different types of people are walking in and out of the office – pre-ops, newly post ops, veterans, etc.     I heard a woman, who was clearly post op and lost what had looked to be most of her weight (now I don’t know how big she started out at or how much she lost, I did not get that far with her) she was talking to a friend she brought with her and looked at a lady who was going in for her initial consultation and clear as day I could hear her say "Its awful how people let themselves go and I will never get back to looking like her (meaning the woman sitting in the chair just two down from her)..  Well me and my big mouth said "So are you saying that you let yourself go before you got the magic surgery, because that’s what everyone in this office is here for just because you lost weight doesn’t make you better than anyone else in this room".  She looked at me like a deer in headlights and I just smiled and she then said "you obviously hadn't got surgery yet". I said actually I had surgery in August and lost over 100 pounds and have about 100 more to go, and I feel great.  Your attitude sucks and just because you lost a lot of weight I bet you're one of the people that is so dissatisfied with their life to make comments about other people that you don’t know and to save her comments for when she got out of the office because I didn’t feel like listening to her negativity.  And then I told her to "f" off.   I realize everyone has attitude changes but I truly believe I will never forget where I came from and how hard it was for me to lose weight.  Gastric Bypass isn't for everyone and it’s a lifelong commitment that everyone is not willing to commit to or can pay for.  I consider myself lucky and getting a second chance in life.  When I hear people that get a "better than you" attitude it makes me furious for making fun of them – for something they probably not that long ago were dealing with.   Maybe I should make my 6 months appointment the same day she is in the office again…
